Joseph West commented on Fox’s Jeanine Pirro Apologizes For ‘Birmingham Is Totally Muslim’ Claim 2015-01-18 13:09:03 -0500 · Flag
mlp !: It might not help, but go watch a few hours of gay male porn. That should eliminate any images of a panties-down Pirro. (If that doesn’t work, then go for the sharp sticks. Unfortunately, there is a theory regarding blindness that people who go blind after being sighted will still retain visual memories they had while sighted. So, unless you go for a lobotomy—or just get sh#&-faced drunk—you’ll probably never really get that image out of your mind.)

I still think it’s time to call out the Duck Dynasty dorks on their very “terroristy” look. I mean, really. Is that really Phil Robertson or a photoshopped image of Osama bin Laden? You couldn’t prove to me that it’s not bin Laden.

Joseph West commented on ‘Great American’ Hannity: Obama Is Not My President 2015-01-15 00:29:26 -0500 · Flag
I’ve forgotten. How long has it been since chickensh*t chickenhawk Hannity vowed to be waterboarded to show that procedure is not torture? We’re coming up on the 6th anniversary, aren’t we?

I know. That doesn’t really have anything to do with the topic at hand; I just thought it was worth bringing up again.

Joseph West commented on Remember When Fox News Hated France? Before They Were More American Than Obama? 2015-01-14 02:43:41 -0500 · Flag
You know, a real cynic would propose that FoxNoise’s real criticism of Obama’s not going to Paris is because FoxNoise was hoping for another terrorist attack to take place while Obama was there, and that he’d be killed.

You think I’m reading too much into FoxNoise’s sudden “concern” how the US looks to the French?

Joseph West commented on ‘Objective’ Adam Housley Takes A Cheap Shot At Obama 2015-01-13 02:41:06 -0500 · Flag
Who do these FoxNoise nitwits think they’re fooling? If Obama had gone to Paris, they would’ve attacked him for going. Going into FoxNoise attack mode, we could’ve probably expected something along these lines………..“Well, there he goes again. Showing all this so-called empathy for foreigners but did the President1 go to Fort Hood when our2 soldiers were massacred3 by a Muslim terrorist, whoops, not according to the President1. Or when that jihadist attacked New York City police with hatchets, did the President1 make so much as a call to the police officers who were injured in the line of duty? But, he has plenty4 of time to go flying off to France—and he’ll probably take Michelle and the girls so they can enjoy a vacation at taxpayer expense, of course—to allegedly show solidarity for foreign5 victims of jihadists. We’re FoxNews—we report so you can decide.”

Note about all the numbers in the above. I don’t really know how to properly format on this site (beyond the bold and strikethroughs) but this little mock-up FoxNoise report really deserved a bunch of “stage directions” but that would’ve really made for major clutter. So, if you wish, read the following stage directions and then go back and reread the “news story” as it would likely SOUND from one of the FoxNoise hacks.
1—Indicates a slightly sarcastic tone; you can virtually see the “air quote” marks being made.
2—Indicates a slightly louder volume, to emphasize the word for the right-wing audience
3—Indicates an appropriately exaggerated alarmist tone;
4—Indicates a tone that would be accompanied by a major eye roll; you can almost hear the eyes rolling
5—Indicates another louder tone, but also exaggerated to suggest shock

Joseph West commented on Fox’s Pirro: Obama Will Try To Modify The First Amendment To Comply With Sharia Laws 2015-01-11 01:56:35 -0500 · Flag
Hmm. It’s so funny that Pirro would be screeching about Obama’s “plan” to modify the First Amendment to comply with Shariah law when the network she appears on doesn’t seem to have any problem with the belief that only Christians (and only the right sort of Christians) are entitled to First Amendment protections. How else do you explain the constant “Christian victimization” parade that FoxNoise seems to specialize in? It’s always “poor Christians” (not in terms of financial status) whose “rights” are being taken away by whichever particular boogeyman FoxNoise is foisting that day (but most often the LGBT community and atheists).

And what does Pirro think of all the states which have attempted to ban Shariah law while doing their best to mandate Christian beliefs at every level of state government—in complete violation of the First Amendment?

Pirro seriously needs to take a few refresher courses in the law.

Joseph West commented on Rep. Mia Love Delighted To Vote For Denying People Health Insurance 2015-01-10 13:09:56 -0500 · Flag
@ truman: Why bother eliminating the minimum wage? The current wage—when adjusted for inflation—is lower than it was in 1968 when the wage was a paltry $1.60 an hour. When adjusted for inflation, a minimum wage worker earning that $1.60 would be making $10.71 an hour in 2013 dollars. (According to an interactive chart at CNN.com, the current minimum wage has the same value as the adjusted for inflation minimum wage in 1985 when the real minimum wage was $3.35 an hour. The chart’s at http://money.cnn.com/interactive/economy/minimum-wage-since-1938/ but there’s a little caveat. The values are set in terms of 2013 dollars so the adjusted for inflation figures might be just a little higher now than when the chart was created.)

The fact that the fat cat employers (as you call them) are already making hundreds of times as much as the AVERAGE worker (not just minimum wage workers, but all workers) and their corporations are recording huge profits is what’s led to the protests for “living wages” at the fast-food and other minimum wage jobs. I’ve got a feeling that if the employers were willing to offer full health coverage and guaranteed paid sick leave and paid vacation/annual leave to their employees instead of raising their wages, the employees could deal with the $7.25 an hour. (It’s a lot easier to take a $7.25 an hour job if you know that when you get sick, you can go to the doctor and only have to shell out a $25 co-pay AND both not worry about being fired and still make that $7.25 an hour while you’re sick.)

Joseph West commented on Fox Guest Attacks Jon Stewart’s ‘Pitiful’ ‘Antiseptic Eunuch Statement’ On Charlie Hebdo 2015-01-09 02:15:09 -0500 · Flag
I wonder if Steyn had even heard of Charlie Hebdo before the attacks? I also wonder if Steyn’s aware that Charlie Hebdo was just as scathing when it came to Jewish and Christian targets? I wonder if Steyn’s aware that Charlie Hebdo’s political ideology leans WAY far left?

I’m betting the answer to all three questions is a resounding “No.”

Joseph West commented on Fr. Jonathan Morris Attacks Atheists Who Object To College Video Touting Religion As Basis For Democracy 2015-01-06 02:17:39 -0500 · Flag
The more important point, though, regarding religion and democracy is that the former has NO use for the latter. For far too long, religion was linked to monarchy.

But, if religion really is the “basis for democracy,” then pray tell why FoxNoise and the far-right in this country are so worried about Muslims. Most Muslim nations are the epitome of democratic values—oh wait. No. No, they’re not. In fact, when the “Arab Spring” was taking place, the democratic protestors were championed, even among conservatives, but only before the religionists got involved. Then, suddenly, the conservative supporters got all panicky. They were concerned that, if Islamists were able to win democratically held elections, America would be targeted . . . for whatever the raison du jour was.

Joseph West commented on Gohmert Announces Challenge To Boehner – On Fox News, Of Course 2015-01-05 15:11:43 -0500 · Flag
If Gohmert wants to see how gays in the military work, instead of ancient Greece, he might take a look at a little army in modern Israel. They’ve allowed gays to serve since 1993 (actually since 1983 but, since 1993, there’s no restrictions on what service they can do—from 1983 to 1993, they weren’t allowed in intelligence or top secret positions).

Or does Gohmert think that Israel’s military prowess has somehow been minimized in the last few decades?

Joseph West commented on Tucker Carlson: ‘This White Privilege Stuff’ Is ‘Openly Racist’ 2015-01-05 15:03:39 -0500 · Flag
Richard, exactly WHAT “Jewish privilege” or “Asian privilege?” Where exactly do Jews and Asians live in this country where they’re in such population majorities that THEIR “cultures” are declared the norm and everyone else has to abide by their rituals and practices?

As to the Floyd Mayweather comment, you’re really grasping at straws. His ability has NOTHING to do with the color of his skin. He doesn’t go around telling whites, “I can kick your ass because I’m Black and it’s my right to do so.” THAT would be “Black privilege.” It IS his skill and his YEARS of training that put him where he is just as all those Black athletes you dismiss. Tiger Woods’ golfing ability is NOT the result of his being multiracial (perhaps that should be “was” rather than “is” but I digress…..) but rather from the years he spent practicing and practicing—just as the Williams Sisters didn’t get where they are solely from their skin tone (Arthur Ashe was a Black tennis player as well). Nor do ANY athletes, regardless of skin tone. Getting back to Mayweather, I’d be willing to bet there are millions of other BLACK men who can’t box any better than you. So, where is there “privilege.”

The white privilege comes from racism. It’s (usually) an unintentional thing but it’s basically an underlying belief on the part of whites that they have a “right” to certain things SOLELY because they’re white—not because they earned it.

You show me a single case of this alleged “Jewish” or “Asian privilege” that is NOT a white stereotype of either group. The only problem is, you can’t. They don’t exist—except in that chasm found between your ears.

Maybe some FoxNoise hosts and guests should take a few minutes and ask themselves why so many folks flocked to Jesus. The Gospels largely attribute Jesus’ popularity with “the little people” to his willingness to hang out with “the little people” and to NOT talk down to them like they were idiots (since he relied on parables and allegories so frequently, he probably did think they were idiots but he knew the value of diplomacy and how to use it). It was only his followers who started the more, um, forcible, way of talking to people. The people whom Jesus condemned and criticized were the people who routinely appear as hosts and guests on FoxNoise—the hypocrites and the self-righteous and the wealthy.

Joseph West commented on Fox Suggests Metric System Or Asian Culture Brought Down AirAsia Plane 2014-12-30 02:10:03 -0500 · Flag
Jane, it’s even more absurd than you might think. The US isn’t merely one of the “last” hold-outs, it’s one of only three (the other two being Liberia and Myanmar) countries that have not adopted the metric system. (The UK still uses elements of the imperial system but it’s officially metric.)

Joseph West commented on Fox Asks Why Aren’t Blacks Being ‘Trained’ To Be ‘Law Abiding, Productive, Respectful Citizens?’ 2014-12-29 02:55:51 -0500 · Flag
Oh. I’m also curious as to who is supposed to “train” these Blacks to be “law abiding productive respectful citizens?” Didn’t FoxNoise just attack Mayor deBlasio for saying that he’d had “the talk” with his son? Is FoxNoise now suggesting that deBlasio WAS doing “the right thing” or is this just another case of FoxNoise changing its story to suit their agenda and talking points for the day?
