Jon Stewart Rips Hannity's Middle East Democracy Hypocrisy

Posted by Ellen -379.80pc on September 19, 2012 · Flag

Jon Stewart highlighted what a difference a president makes when it comes to cable pundits pontificating about democracy in the Middle East. Stewart noted that a "young, not-as-fat" Hannity and other right-wingers "couldn't do enough to promote democracy in the Middle East as long as it was done at the end of George Bush's gun. But as Middle Eastern countries choose leaders for themselves? Lordy, lordy the pearls can't be clutched enough!"

Stewart summed up: "I can't tell if these guys are clueless, cynical or in denial."

I'll vote "cynical," Jon.

patrick, I agree. It was Stewart who carved out the three choices. I voted for “cynical” but your mileage may vary.

@ Ellen- I’m not sure why there has to be a choice.None of the three are mutually exclusive of any of the others; the answer could easily be all three just in varying proportions in different situations.Stewart’s show has developed the knack for distilling Fux to their ridiculous essence to an art or science. He can do it with a minimum of words and histrionics, unlike Fux which has to rant and rave to try to drive their point home.

I vote for cynical. These neocons lie when it suits their purpose.

@R L, you are exactly right. They do know what they’re doing. And they’re using a tried and true handbook written by Goebbels. They know exactly how to zero in on the most mindless, gullible people and convince them to vote against their own best interests.

Ask any FoxGOPTV sheep why they hate Obama so much. They’ll repeat a lie that one of their neocon masters has told them. Press them further and they can’t answer. Ask them why they hate Fmr. Speaker Pelosi. They repeat a lie and when pressed, they tell you that you’re the one who is brainwashed.

Oops. Forgot to vote:

All of the above plus a few other, less ladylike adjectives

I’m speechless.

But not (never) entirely: what a masterful takedown of hypocrisy and opportunism. Wow. Takes one’s breath away. Whew!

I would like to add.

Remember how the teabaggeds were braying like sows in heat after the supposed “electoral tsunami” of 2010?

Well, that was democracy in action.

Excuse me, democracy in INACTION.
Because the teabagged have accomplished… NOT A DAMNED THING.

Aside of making themselves look like total morons.

I’ll go with “all of the above.”

A good neo-con lie Dan Senor knows where his bread is buttered.
