Jon Stewart took Bill O'Reilly to task tonight and absolutely demolished his "end of traditional America" lamentation by pointing out that absorbing new ethnicities and religions is exactly the kind of tradition that makes our country great. Stewart also pointed out that there was a time when people complained that Irish, Catholics and Jews were a menace to "traditional America," too.
Stewart says: So enough! Enough! Relax. Enough with the lamentations. Unless your real name is Sitting Bill, you've got nothing to complain about.

This was GREAT! Watching Little Billy EGO’reilly and Sad Sack Bernie Goldberg, lamenting the end of LEAVE IT TO BEAVER. Perhaps their self-pity clinic can give birth to a new show. LEAVE IT TO BILLOW. Or more appropriately TAKING FROM BILLOW. For this is all about his money, and President Obama wanting to raise Little Billy’s tax rate 4%. The lazy Great Unwashed getting into Little Billy’s pocket.

Comedy suffered a devastating setback with the defeat of Mitt Romney last week, but as long as we have Fox News, right wing talk radio and every time Sarah Palin has something to say, theyâll always have enough material to keep us laughing.

We saw that last night and we were laughing/cheering Jon on for speaking truth to power. Jon’s exposé on BOR’s flawed hypothesis doesn’t do too much for his beloved form of power, you know, the “white, Christian, male” one.
I hope BOR’s ears were burning last night…LOL!

IMO, the reaction of Bill and Bernie (sounds like a cartoon!) to a changing world is typical of the rather more stupid members of any category that has only recently emerged out of the waters of the “dirty unwashed”. Having only recently been accepted among the “in” society", they are not eager to accept the next wave in line for similar gentrification". In my own family of French Canadian origin, there are more than a few who rail endlessly against the more recent categories of immigrants, conveniently forgetting the times when they, themselves, complained bitterly about being discriminated against. This bothers me so much that I avoid family gatherings like the plague.
