Ever Eager To Smear Obama, Hannity and Fox News Baselessly Call "Mob Connected" Giannoulias Obama’s “Protege"

Merriam-Webster defines “protege” as one who is protected or trained or whose career is furthered by a person of experience, prominence, or influence. But Sean Hannity offered no information to indicate such a relationship existed between President Barack Obama and Alexi Giannoulias, running in a primary for Obama’s Senate seat and supposedly connected to the Mob, last night (8/4/09) during a “Special Investigation” into what Hannity called “Obama’s newest protégé.” In fact, it was clear from the report (though buried) that Obama has not even endorsed Giannoulias. With video.

Fox Nation Posts April 15th Video As "Proof" That Tea Parties Are "Still Brewing"

Fox Nation has a headline called, "Tea Parties Still Brewing." But the only content to that post is a video about a tea party in Fishkill, NY on April 15, 2009, the original tea party day. Maybe it depends on what your definition of "still brewing" is. The commenters on the thread didn't seem to notice or care that the video was almost three months old. (H/T reader Kim G)

Megyn Kelly Stands In For Missing Republican Guest

On yesterday's America's Newsroom, Megyn Kelly vehemently argued with the State Treasurer of Kansas about the Democratic governor's plan to meet payroll expenses by borrowing from another state account. Kelly repeatedly alleged that "Republicans say" the governor's plan is illegal, irresponsible and that budget cuts should be made instead. At the end, Kelly revealed that the show had been unable to get any Republican leaders to appear. "So I tried to espouse their points for them," she said. By the way, Meggie, it would have been nice if you had bothered to fact-check your Republican role-playing and let viewers know if the governor's plan was actually illegal, as you so indignantly suggested, before trying to shout down your guest who, after all, is the expert, when he said that it wasn't. (H/T reader Jerry for the heads up.) Video after the jump

Bill Hemmer Steals News Hounds' Motto

Last night (December 31, 2008) Bill Hemmer and Megyn Kelly co-hosted Fox News' coverage of the New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square. Seconds before the 11:00 p.m. ET hour, Hemmer said, "Hey everybody, listen. We are one hour and 30 seconds away from the big ball dropping out of the sky on 42nd Street - Times Square! So don't go anywhere. Don't move a muscle. We're gonna freeze so you don't have to!"

Comment: Bill's bosses might not like knowing that he's reading so much News Hounds' that he can't get our catchy motto out of his head. Thanks Bill. We love it too!

Fox: Say it Again - It's a "News" Outlet?

An hour ago (December 29, 2008) I was thoroughly disgusted after reading Glenn Greenwald's laser-like evisceration of David Gregory's abhorrent performance yesterday during his debut as the host of Meet the Press.

A few minutes later I wandered over to Fox and scrolled around.
