Although Sean Hannity once spent three nights discussing an unknown bookstore owner who said that whites should be exterminated, and he claims to “care deeply” about race, no time of the Hannity show last night was spent discussing the Trayvon Martin shooting in Florida. Instead, the top story was an attack on Michelle Obama for appearing on David Letterman. Why? Because Letterman has made misogynistic comments about Sarah Palin. Meanwhile, Hannity continues to avoid explaining why he pals around with Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, a guy who “thank(s) God for slavery” and thinks most women are “little whores.”
As I wrote in a previous post, the Trayvon Martin shooting is the kind of story that Fox would certainly love had the unarmed Martin been a white teenager shot and killed by a black man under dubious circumstances. Also, if the top story on Hannity is a complaint about Michelle Obama appearing on Letterman, you know it’s not exactly a busy news day.
Hannity was a picture of Hanctimonious outrage as he complained about the “vile comments” Letterman made in 2009 about Sarah Palin.
“How can the president justify his wife appearing on such a program?” Hannity asked, citing Obama’s concern for incivility.
Of course, Letterman has apologized to Palin.
But Hannity’s pal – who has made far worse vile comments, such as agreeing that Rush Limbaugh was “right on the money” for calling Sandra Fluke a slut, and saying that, “One of the greatest mistakes that America made was to allow women the opportunity to vote” has not apologized. Nor has he apologized for a litany of bigoted remarks, many of them made right in front of Hannity on his show. Hannity hasn’t apologized either. In fact, he continues to endorse Peterson’s charity and sits on its advisory board.
I’ve written to Hannity about Peterson. Instead of a response, I was blocked from emailing.
Sadly, guest Kirsten Powers, supposedly representing Democrats and/or liberals, used the occasion to promote her own stand against liberals. Powers is a paid contributor to Fox, so while I can understand her reluctance to challenge the rampant misogyny, racial animosity and incivility that goes on there, I can’t understand how she can pretend it doesn’t exist at the same time that she complains about liberals not speaking out enough against their own. Instead, she sat there accepting props from Hannity for her consistency. Even worse, she called it “disgusting” and “mind boggling” that President Obama and other liberals had not condemned Bill Maher.
So where is Powers on Hannity and Peterson? How about Bill O’Reilly painting Sandra Fluke as a slut? Curtis Sliwa saying he wanted to beat Rosie O’Donnell with a bat – on Hannity & Colmes? How about Dennis Miller’s smears about Nancy Pelosi’s looks? Or Hannity’s pal Ted Nugent calling Hillary Clinton a “worthless bitch” who should “ride into the sunset” on his machine gun?
Powers isn’t just going on these shows, unlike Michelle Obama, she’s earning money from it.
I emailed Powers but only got a reprimand for my own incivility in using the word "attack" to characterize her criticisms of liberals.
High End Hannocchio won’t touch this one because he is afraid of the response he will get. He’s really afraid of liberals.
Why should hate filled “Cross Hairs”, “Death Camps”, “Read ’em All”, “Bridge to Nowhere”, “Runnin’ fer Prez”, “Governor-Quitter” Palin be held in such low esteem? Huh? Why?!!!!
Foxnews.com, Fox Nation and a few hosts have begun enabling her since it was posted, it’s even seemed to cut short their meme about 20 million people losing their health care unless we accept a Paul Ryan plan, which was gaining steam until yesterday.
Here’s a Fox News text article outlining it:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/03/20/bristol-awaits-obamas-call-shoulder/
And for our new trolls: If Chelsea Clinton was the one pulling this, do you really think Fox News would really put up with people enabling her? Let alone be the ones actually doing it?
