Dr. Keith Ablow's Attack On Jenna Lyons Isn't Homopobic?

As part of his personal attacks on celebrities he doesn't like (Bill Maher, Chaz Bono - here & here), Fox News' "Medical A Team" member Dr. Keith Ablow uses his medical "bona fides" to spout ridiculous speculations which, in the case of Chaz Bono and the transgender community, involved theory that is no longer accepted as mainstream. As such, he would appear to be in conflict with standards of professional ethics in his field. But this doesn't seem to be a problem for Ablow whose latest obsession about what constitutes "normal" gender roles (Boys should be manly, girls should be girly, and the transgendered are strange mutants) resulted in his trashing of J Crew creative director, Jenna Lyons, when she was seen in an internet ad happily painting her happy son's toenails. This was too much for the manly Ablow who saw this as "an example of the way our culture is being encouraged to abandon all trappings of gender identity?" Now that Jenna Lyons is getting a divorce because, supposedly, she just might be a lesbian, Ablow is doing an "I told you so" and in so doing supposedly proves how he was right when he said, in the first Fox News article, that she was "uncomfortable" with her son's gender - an allegation he made about a lesbian couple who are dealing with a transgender child. In other words, Ablow is expressing that age old male fear of emasculation which finds a voice in the age old whine about man hating (insert "D" word plural) who are disrupting the social order and taking away the wimmins. But Ablow says that it's not about teh gay. Really?

Fox & Friends Mocks Transgender Grinnell College Students?

The ugly smearing of the transgender community has found a home at Fox "News." Recently there has been a spate of transgender bashing from Fox's "Medical A Team" member Keith Ablow who smeared Chaz Bono while advancing views of transgenderism (seen in another Ablow job in which he smeared a J Crew designer for painting her son's toenails) not accepted by the medical mainstream. He also suggested that two lesbians, who are allowing their transgender child to delay puberty, are being abusive. So given that Fox & Friends is "the morning happy-talk show that Ailes uses as one of his primary vehicles to inject his venom into the media bloodstream," it wasn't surprising to see the gang on the curvy couch join in the transgender bashing Fox fun. On Tuesday, the "chuckling cheesburgers," who were visibly repulsed about Chaz Bono on DWTS, were just full of shits and giggles about gender neutral housing at Grinnell College which, despite their contention that it's "new," has been around for three years. But underneath the fun lurked an ugly bias that seems to have a happy home on Fox "News." The mocking message, articulated by good Christian conservative Gretchen Carlson, was that it would be so much better if we could go back to the good old days when the LGBT community was in the closet and if not for this "small minority," the world would be a better place.

Martha MacCallum Says Hormone Therapy For Gender Confused Boy Is Child Abuse?

More than other mainstream news outlets, Fox News seems quite obsessed with the boy whose parents are allowing him to have hormone therapy in order to delay puberty due to gender confusion issues. The Fox News website had this story as a lede on their website. It is also on Fox Nation where the comments are the usual spew of vile homophobia. And today, on America's Newsroom, Martha MacCallum provided hers and the Fox unofficial take on the issue during her interview with two doctors, one of whom was, drum roll please, the notorious transphobic Fox "Medical A Team" member, Dr. Keith Ablow. Neither Ablow nor the other doctor were able to say much as most of the time was spent with Martha whining about this doesn't seem like a good thing. And she echoed the sentiments of the crude Fox Nation denizens when she suggested that this therapy could even be child abuse; but because she's far more sophisticated than the Fox Nations sewer dwellers, she was able to subtly infer rather than overtly state. But the propaganda message, that these lesbians are bad parents, was still loud and clear.

Fox Nation Uses Child To Generate Hateful Homophobia

As we know, Fox Nation is a proud, Christian heterosexual place where the LBGT community is quite unwelcome - so unwelcome that a discussion thread about Chaz Bono, who is transgender, was shut down due to the Christian heterosexual - uh - passion with which Bono was demonized. As I reported yesterday, the Fox News website reported on the son of a California lesbian couple who is, under medical supervision, undergoing hormone treatment in order to delay puberty due to gender confusion issues. After Fox ran with the Fox News story, the story started a marathon run in all the usual right wing and Christian websites where homophobia is a family value. And it didn't take long for Fox Nation, a site for those "opposed to intolerance," to pick up the story so that their Fox Nation residents could engage in the usual homophobic regurgitations. And last I heard, homophobic comments are not about tolerance. But this is the bizarro world of Fox Nation. What more can I tell ya!

More Anti-LGBT Bigotry From Fox News?

As we know, Fox's Dr. Keith Ablow had a case of transphobic histrionics about both Chaz Bono and a J. Crew ad which featured a little boy having his toenails painted. Ablow was provided with a platform for his discredited bias on the Fox News website which published his articles decrying how changing sexual norms are the beginning of the end of the world as we know it. Fox News and Keith Ablow are back with yet another attack on the transgender (and lesbian) community. Earlier today, the great, big, whopping Fox headline lede reported that the son of a lesbian couple is undergoing hormone blocking therapy in order to delay puberty so that he can deal with gender confusion issues. The only other mainstream media outlet that is presently carrying this story is the UK Daily Mail; but now that Fox has it, it's making the rounds of the Christian and right wing websites as we speak. And as Fox is the media outlet for the pitchfork crowd, it's not surprising to see this article which, while written by a Fox reporter, quotes Fox's Ablow, Dr. Manny Alvarez, a former transexual who went back to his original identity thanks to Jesus, and a discredited doctor who was part of the war on Dr. George Tiller. But seriously, this was a lede story. Who cares about what is really a family affair? Oh, wait - there are San Francisco lesbians with a potentially transgender son - dripping red meat for the Fox culture wars.
