On Fox News Sunday yesterday, two CEOs discussed the U.S. economy. Host Chris Wallace decided it would be a good time to throw a jab at climate change.
The two guests were FedEx CEO Fred Smith and Robert Wolf, formerly of UBS and now CEO of 32 Advisors. Each said he thought the economy is improving. Wolf mentioned the impact of terrible weather over the winter.
Wallace – on his way to suggesting that the economy is not improving, took a swipe at climate change. He said, “You know gentlemen, this isn’t just one month or one quarter. I know people have talked about the bad winter. I’m wondering maybe whether we need to worry about global cooling now.”
First, this was an economic discussion, not a discussion about global warming or cooling. Second, Wallace should have noted that the overwhelming number of scientists disagree. Salon.com recently found that 9,135 out of 9,136 scientists say global warming is for real. Or better yet, why not host them all in a big arena so everyone can see the ratio?
