Forget supporting our president in a time of war – you know, the way we were supposed to when George W. Bush was president. Fox is not only happily maligning Obama as much as ever, the “We like America” network has fixed on the most trivial, most unimportant and hypocritical of excuses: Obama saluted the troops while holding a coffee cup.
Let’s start with a walk down Fox News memory lane:
“(T)he language that is being used on a daily basis about our commander and about our troops, I believe is undermining our troops.” (Sean Hannity, 12/2/05)
I will call those who publicly criticize our country in a time of military crisis, which this is, bad Americans. …It is our duty as loyal Americans to shut up once the fighting begins. (Bill O’Reilly, 3/3/03)
“We like America. (The other media) don’t hate it, they just are constantly telling you what’s wrong. There’s never a good story about America.” (Roger Ailes 11/19/04)
So please keep all that in mind when you consider the faux outrage over President Obama having saluted our troops while holding a coffee cup at the same time:
Exhibit A (first video below): Sean Hannity laughing at President Obama with Karl Rove over it.
Exhibit B (second video below): Outnumbered Overtime spent almost 10 and a half minutes discussing it (not counting the discussion on the air). David Asman said it affects “the chain of command which is in jeopardy right now.” Andrea Tantaros said, “I’m not going to skin him alive and impugn him over this. I think it was horribly disrespectful, I think he should definitely know better, put down the latte… We’re at a time of war, it is a huge sign of disrespect. However, I think that there’s other things I would rather criticize him for."
Exhibit C (third video below): Fox & Friends' discussion of this "scandal" also worked in a swipe at Obama for carrying what looked like a “Styrofoam cup going into the climate change thing.”
Exhibit D: Fox Nation “just asked” if the salute was “disrespectful.”
Media Matters also caught Fox contributors Allen West and Todd Starnes tweeting about it, along with some other members of the so-called liberal media reporting on the matter. Media Matters also noted that President George W. Bush had been caught saluting the troops while holding his dog. From the Los Angeles Times:
Check out how that rendered the Outnumbered crew speechless when it was mentioned. But, of course, they went right back to smearing Obama.
We also haven’t forgotten that so-called concert “fundraiser” to raise money for military families. Who funded Hannocchio’s travels, via lear jet, and fancy, four-star hotels? Did the charity cough up the money so elitist Hannocchio can travel high-class with family and friends? Our military families could have used that extra money spent on luxury hotels. Most of these same families are struggling financially. Oh well, not Hannocchio’s problem. That little side money came to a halt when he was outed by a conservative blogger. She had the dirt on him and that so-called “charity.”
Hannocchio is phony as a three dollar bill. His name is a brand-faith, family, guns, pro-military, Apple pie-all rolled inside an American flag. He also dines at American-themed eateries that serve cheeseburgers, French fries, sodas, baked potatoes, steaks, beer, etc. That is the image he wants to project to his aging audience- a good American Boy Scout.
Inside that Boy Scout is an opportunist and elitist man who will do what it takes to advance his broadcasting career. Even if it means stepping on other conservative talkers. Here’s a dirty secret. A few of his fellow conservative talkers don’t like the man. They know his true nature. Others have been burned by him, and they haven’t forgotten that stab in the back.
The Stop Hannity Express says remind the masses and military families of his failure to waterboard himself for charity. He made a promise to the troops on live television. Goes to show you what he really thinks of our military.
Hannity has been yammering about the corpsman thing on TV, too. Tonight, with the Cheneys, they also dissed the president on Ferguson. It seems to be the next official Obama controversy on Fox.
“The president disrespects our troops?” Nowhere near as much as Shemp Hannity and Fox disrespect the office of the Presidency, and by extension, our country. These wing nuts claim they love America so much, yet they disrespect the government, don’t want to pay their taxes, and seem to hate roughly half the people that live here.
Fuck them.
Mind you, Hannity really wanted to trash Obama’s General Assembly speech, but he couldn’t keep his mouth shut about the coffee cup.
And to prove Obama has no respect for our fighting men and woman, Slanthead dredged up the “corpseman” flub. How many of you remember that? Hannity remembers it. Hannity never forgets anything, ever (Ayers, Dohrn, Rev. Wright, et. al. just a few examples)!
And of course he played the audio of Obama saying “corpseman” several times. Then he got a another chance a few minutes later when a irate caller got through (or was let through on purpose?) who told our Seanny, “Give it up already.”
Where was this caller coming from? No one, ever, tells Sean Slanthead Hannocchio Hannity to ever give up anything. And to prove his bone fides as the major Obama trash master on radio and teevee, Hannity again played the “corpseman” clip a few more times for good measure!
“Yes, it bothers me,” Slanthead told the caller, “and I won’t drop it. Obama has no respect for our troops!”
Remember that, folks.
Oh… and he certainly didn’t have a single positive word about the UN address. The worst sin, according to Hannocchio, was the reference to Ferguson. This outraged Hannity, since according to him, Ferguson was NOT about race, and the cop is innocent. It was, says Seanny, just another example of Obama tearing down American in front of “the world’s most evil terrorists who belong to the U.N.”
Slanthead summed up the Ferguson reference today: “It was an obscenity!”
