Fox’s resident Sheriff David Clarke is having a conniption over the charges filed against six police officers in Baltimore for the death of Freddie Gray, whose spinal cord was injured while in police custody.
Yesterday, Milwaukee County Sheriff – and likely candidate for Milwaukee mayor - David Clarke paid what seems like his daily visit to Fox for yet another round of black attacking. This time his divisive comments were made against the African American state attorney, Marilyn Mosby, who had just filed charges against the officers.
CLARKE: She knows she’s not going to be able to prove all these charges beyond a reasonable doubt. This is George Zimmerman and the Duke lacrosse case all over again, a politically active District Attorney or state’s attorney. …She almost did this with glee.
Clarke – who has no evident connection to Baltimore or Maryland – nonetheless announced that Mosby “needs to remove herself from this case” and “name a special prosecutor.”
Clarke later admitted to ignorance about the case. “What little I know, and I don’t know all the facts,” he said, before accusing Mosby of being overly political. “Listening to those political statements that Mosby made at the end of that news conference, that’s political activism, it’s wrong, it’s probably in violation of her code of ethics as a lawyer,” Clarke accused.
Clarke called the now-charged police “political prisoners.”
You may recall that the night before, Fox's Megyn Kelly demanded the Gray family attorney promise in advance that the family would abide by whatever decision the prosecutor came to. It looks like Clarke is having trouble living up to the same standard.
