Apparently, this is Smear Michelle Obama Week on Fox News. Earlier I wrote about Neil Cavuto trying (but failing) to get NFL star Russell Wilson to take potshots at the First Lady. Today, on Outnumbered, Fox’s crackpot psychiatrist, Dr. Keith Ablow, accused her of not being a good spokesperson for eating properly because she “needs to drop a few.”
In a way, you can’t blame Ablow. The female co-hosts started the Michelle smearing. Even though the discussion purported to be about the healthy lunch program in schools, Kennedy personalized it against Mrs. Obama by saying, “We don’t need the federal government applying—projecting—these standards upon us. And Michelle Obama is so like 'The Duchess' when she speaks.” Kennedy's voice dripped with scorn.
Kimberly Guilfoyle piled on: “She’s kind of annoying that way.”
“She is,” Kennedy agreed.
That’s when Ablow added, “And how well could she be eating? She needs to drop a few."
There were choruses of shocked “Ohs.” Apparently, Ablow didn’t get the Dos And Don’ts For Smearing Michelle Obama memo from Fox.
“You did not say that,” Harris Faulkner objected.
Well, yes he did. In fact, Ablow now doubled down: “We’re taking nutrition advice from who? Who are we taking nutrition advice from? …Let’s be honest: Like I mean, there’s no French fries happening? That’s all kale and carrots? I don’t buy it."
“Oh my goodness gracious,” Faulkner protested.
“Well, I’m just saying,” Ablow continued. Then, perhaps to make himself look more balanced, he added, “Her husband, I want some nutrition advice from Barack.”
Yeah, sure he does.
Media Matters noted that Fox meteorologist Janice Dean tweeted a rebuke to Ablow:

NOTE TO ABLOW
You can lose a few pounds yourself, you quack.
