Fox News got in a little dig at Ted Cruz for not endorsing Donald Trump Wednesday night by trotting out Cruz supporter Phil Robertson, of Duck Dynasty, who announced he and his family are now “all in with” Trump.
Robertson told host Stuart Varney, a blatant Trump cheerleader, “I still support Ted Cruz” but, Robertson conceded, Cruz’s name is not on the ballot and Trump’s name is.
Varney asked, “Are you an enthusiastic supporter of Donald Trump or are you just saying, ‘I’ll support Trump ‘cause his name’s on the ballo?’”
Robertson assured Varney and the Fox viewers he’s the former. “I am enthusiastically hoping and praying that Donald Trump will be the next president of the United States. I am all in with him.”
Robertson later said it doesn't matter if he and Trump don't agree on everything. “Trump’s the man,” Robertson continued. “I think he can change America, and I think he’ll do exactly what he says he’ll do. I feel better and better as each day passes about Mr. Trump. We need change.”
Varney prodded Robertson to reveal which issues he does agree with Trump. “I love the fact that he will stand firm on the Second Amendment,” Robertson replied. Also, “I’m scared to death if he does not become president on what Hillary Clinton will do. So his nominees for the Supreme Court, the Second Amendment, those things, beefing up the military.”
Robertson also promised, “I’ll offer a prayer for him.”
Varney wanted more tangible help for Trump. “Are you going to use your TV show, use your family to support him and help him?” Varney asked hopefully.
“The entire Robertson family is all in with Donald Trump,” Robertson promised.
“Good stuff,” Varney told Robertson, as the discussion closed.
