As I write this, there are dramatic developments in the Bangladesh terrorism attack for which ISIS has taken credit. Police have just stormed the restaurant where the hostages are or were being held. But Fox thinks its one-hour special about Bill Clinton’s meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch is more important.
Below are screen grabs from coverage on CNN and MSNBC:
But Fox, which can’t stop accusing President Obama of not taking terrorism seriously enough, decided that a brief news break about this latest attack was sufficient.
It was probably a mistake for Clinton to meet with Lynch but was it really worth an hour-long special? And when can we expect Fox to do an hour-long special on the Trump University scandal? Or Donald Trump’s ties to the mob? Or the latest news about the Trump Institute’s get-rich-quick scheme with plagiarized lessons?
I think we know the answer: never.
In the clip below, from the July 1 Hannity special, Fox’s Patricia Stark acknowledges the police are storming the building and that ISIS has claimed responsibility. But in less than a minute, it was back to the “Lynch-Clinton scandal.”
Figures. I’ll have to come up with a new screaming hashtag like #Emailgate! to memorialize Fox’s latest anti-Clinton, anti-Democrat obsession. Just like #Benghazi! ;^)
I pity you witnessing this crap on GOP TV. The oh-so-liberal ‘mainstream’ media is obsessing over it enough.
As I’ve said in the past, Trump has met with both Roger Ailes and Rupert Murdoch. Yet, the oh-so-liberal ‘mainstream’ media has never once suggested that cozy relationship taints Fox’s coverage of the Donald. A 30-minute chat between Bill and Loretta and the fix is in! ;^)
.
More interesting is CNN reporting sources telling them unless Hillary says something indicating she broke the law or is perjuring herself, no indictment is forthcoming.
CNN is spicing up their coverage by interviewing some Trump surrogates throwing tantrums Hillary should give up her candidacy no matter what. Everyone is raging Bill Clinton in 30 minutes was able to get the fix in with Loretta Lynch which is why Hillary isn’t getting the death penalty.
CNN is pretty tame so I can imagine the histrionics seizing Fox News right now. Like #Benghazi, it’s all a conspiracy and faux moral outrage which will leave GOP TV screaming about this until Election 2020 and beyond [if Hillary gets reelected].
Then Bill Clinton meets with Loretta Lynch and histrionics.
Bill Clinton has a long-standing relationship with Lynch. Heck, he appointed her in the ‘90s to a position. Based upon that, not the ’liberal media’ obsessing over this almost as much as Fox the decision, she should have made the decision whether or not to recuse herself.
This meeting? Now suddenly throw a fit over their relationship? Why?
There’s nothing wrong with the Clintons meeting with Lynch. It doesn’t violate legal ethics. In fact, I’ve argued Hillary is way past the point where she should be letting the Sword of Damocles hang over her head and, at a minimum, her lawyers should be privately and even publicly demanding Justice piss or get off the pot regarding Emailgate. So if Hillary demanded a meeting with justice on this f—k Fox. I say go for it, girl!
While I’m no Nostradamus and anything is possible, it’s pretty clear Justice doesn’t have a case against Hillary. Why? Simple.
This case has dragged on and on and on and on. All the emails are long since released. All the witnesses but Hillary (who is not the target of it) interviewed. Even the immunity card has been played with witnesses like the server admin. Still nothing.
Petraeus? The FBI was notified in May and the decision was made in the summer. The only reason it delayed past November was a political decision to wait until after the election. Not to mention, despite Republican (FOX) bulls—t to the contrary, his case was entirely different.
Fox News including supposedly hard news journalists like Catherine Herrige have over-hyped the case against Clinton by consistently quoting anonymous sources predicting an imminent and harsh indictment and referring to damning evidence which has yet to pan out. Herrige’s sources routinely conflict with pretty much everyone else in the media.
Fox, as we all know, obsesses over stories like this which promote the Republican brand. It’s unfortunate Bill handed this gift of a story to GOP TV because it’s a keep-alive opportunity for partisan hypocrites like Eric Bolling here in extending the network’s obsession.
CNN and MSNBC/NBC had their problems covering this, but they both had people on the ground who could at least find a witness or two, or perhaps the reputation as actual news organizations in the region that people called them, plus miscellaneous “experts” who actually knew something about Bangladesh and its history with terrorism.
Both nets did a pretty good job of covering this, given the handicaps. Fox “News” didn’t even try because it would have been too embarrassing for them.
