There were two large explosions at a Texas fertilizer plant near Waco tonight. FoxNews.com reports numerous injuries, major damage to structures and people trapped in a nearby nursing home and apartment building. But Fox News Channel is going with a rerun of The O'Reilly Factor. Better to keep bashing Barney Frank than cover the news, eh? (Hat Tip A.M.)
Check the time stamp.
UPDATE:(12 midnight) Fox is covering the explosion - now that The Factor is over.
UPDATE: 12:18 AM (4/18/13) Back to Hannity on Fox. CNN is still covering the explosion.

Kudos to Ellen and bemused for setting Deb straight on a few things. And I’ll add something else that she should consider before spouting right-wing rhetoric…
I presume that by “Obama’s temper tantrum”, she is referring Obama’s Rose Garden remarks on the gun legislation (as “temper tantrum” is how the more rabid Obama haters took to calling it). Actually, Deb, FOX “news” did a poor job of covering Obama’s comments on the matter – as they deliberately chose NOT to do a live airing of his comments. In fact, “President Obama hadn’t finished his first sentence on Wednesday when the Fox News Channel cut away from his Rose Garden remarks about the Senate’s defeat of a measure that would have expanded background checks for gun buyers. Viewers were told they could watch the rest online if they wanted to. Then the hosts of “The Five,” the channel’s 5 p.m. talk show, resumed their conversation about liberal media bias.” Pffft.
As many viewers (including myself) were interested in what the President had to say, as an alleged news network (at least that’s what they keep calling themselves), FOX most definitely should have aired his remarks instead of purposely pulling the plug on him. For crying out loud, it was a NEWS CONFERENCE HELD BY OUR PRESIDENT!
Greg Gutfeld (of all people!) even felt the need to apologize for how poorly FOX “news” handled the matter. And how pitiful was it that when FOX “news”, the epitome of conservative media bias, switched back to their regular programming, they were whining about liberal media bias. Geez.

My guess would be that the top brass at FNC were aware that the fertiliser plant was unsafe and that its owners/managers were actively protected by the politicians who are GOP.
They had to put “something” on while they crafted their own version of the news and nothing better than Bill O’Reilly to put the viewers in the proper frame of mind.

As you well know, Debbi, (or should) there are gaping loopholes in the existing legislation on background checks. Fact is that it’s pathetically easy for the crazies and criminals to get their hands on anything they want.
That bill had already been watered down to the point of becoming pretty useless as a deterrent but it would have established a precedent. Couldn’t have that, so the NRA stepped in to remind the Senators that a lot of campaign contributions were being allocated. Those are the makers and sellers of guns not the American people
I hope the names of those feckless Senators will eventually be made public and that America will vote them out of office.
I’m fed up with being reminded that only Somalia has more guns per capita than the USA. And the highest murder rate during peace time.

Well, with the way BOR’s and Hannity’s ratings have been down, perhaps FOX “news” wants to grab every opportunity they can to get eyeballs on their stars’ shows? Maybe rerun ratings are more important than live news coverage?
Or maybe the production/programming folks were scared that BOR would call them up and cuss them out if they didn’t re-air his funfest of egotistical arrogance and over-the-top liberal bashing? Bwaaah!

“Who cares of a fertilizer plant exploded?! What caused it, anyways?”
“Ammonium Nitrate.”
“HOLY SH*T, THAT SOUNDS LIKE TERRORIST WORDS!”
“No, it’s a scientific term for-”
“ATHIESTS DID IT!”
“No, it was bad management not meeting the federal-”
“GOVERNMENT PLOT!”
“No, the plant refused to properly store the Nitrate, they were even fined $2,300 by the EPA-”
“LET’S BLAME AL GORE! AND TIE IT TO OBAMA!”
“No.”
But you said the EPA-"
“Fined them for not regulating Nitrate until it put a new hole in the world. According to this, they refused to pay it, and the state GOP ran defense to make sure they never had to clean up or pay up.”
“So… this may the fault of criminal corporate practice, backed by the Texas Republicans?”
“Yep- Rick Perry in particular has his name all over that. If the practice is blamed, he’s fried like chicken.”
“ABORT! ABORT! SHOW O’REILLY TRASHING BARNEY FRANK, AND PRAY NO ONE REMEMBERS THIS TOMORROW!”
“But I do have good news- They caught the Ricin letters guy.”
“Great- Roll me out a picture of his Muslim ass- we’re gonna nail Obama to the wall with-”
“He’s a white, male, Christian Republican from Tupelo, Mississippi that his rhetoric suggests ties to the Tea Party.”
“Jesus Christ! Well, just ignore that- If we do have to bring it up, tell people he’s an OWS leader or something that will help our 2014 agenda. I got another meeting for how we’re going to spin it if the Boston Marathon Bomber turns out to be a white guy. Catch you later.”
“Later.”

“How long until the dreaded “some people are saying” gets wheeled out in conjunction with Gay marriage and god’s vengeance?”
My guess is right after they claim to have spotted a “dark-skinned individual wearing a hoodie” near the scene.
And right before Governor Stoopit whines for federal help.

Fox Prefers O’Reilly Rerun To Texas Fertilizer Plant Explosion
No worries. Fox will get to an in-depth investigation of the TX explosion — as soon as they can find a way to link it to Muslim terrorists and/or President Obama . . .
