We’ve got another embarrassment of Fox News “riches” to choose from this week. We’ve got Donald Trump on the mind again, but also the “secret Muslim” dog whistle, Obamacare, "enemy" college students and torture. Check ‘em out and cast your vote.
This week's nominees are:
Sheriff Joe Arpaio, ominously suggesting Trump protesters need to be silenced:
“(W)e have to do something about what’s happening to Trump. Everybody’s after him and that’s sad. That’s very sad.”
Kimberly Guilfoyle, giving advice on how to make torture legal:
“(Y)ou have to be able to do what it takes in a lawful way. And the point is, you can make laws, especially in times of terror like this, where there are exigent circumstances, national security is at stake. So you take the people that you trust, your valued advisors, you talk to the Justice Department and you come up and you craft some means to be able to do so.”
“Straight news anchor” Sandra Smith, closing her lapdog interview with a Catholic nun fighting ObamaCare’s contraception mandate:
“Sister Constance, continue your fight, we’ll be watching it.”
“If college students don’t like Trump, that’s a good thing. I mean, you kind of want the enemy to fear you.”
Ben Carson, sounding like he thinks we need a religious war to stay safe from terrorism:
“We’re not willing to declare war on Islam and look at our immigration policies and our visa policies, all of these things are things that are putting the American population in jeopardy, and there’s no sense of seriousness here.”
David Wohl, defending Donald Trump’s nasty tweet denigrating Heidi Cruz’s looks as satire:
“Donald Trump responded with satire. That was a satirical tweet of his wife next to Heidi Cruz. What if he had made the tweet his beautiful wife and the possible future First Man of the United States, Bill Clinton, with a smirk on his face? Would people have been outraged? No, they would have laughed and moved on and that’s what people need to do with this one.”
Fox news analyst Ralph Peters blowing the “secret Muslim” dog whistle:
“One aspect of Islam is violent extremism. And some Muslims are fanatical jihadis. And when the president cannot accept that, when he keeps saying – when the president of the United States, purportedly a Christian, says “That’s not Islam,” that’s like the king of Saudi Arabia saying “The Pope’s not a Christian.” It doesn’t convince anyone. But the left is so wed, the president is so wed to this romanticization of Islam that he carried with him from his Indonesian childhood that he just can’t get it out.”
