Fox News Ignores Latino Fox Feelings On ‘Illegal Immigrant’ Term

Latino Fox has a recent article about media usage of the controversial term “illegal immigrant” in which it acknowledges that its own study found the term offensive to a plurality of Latinos. And yet, Fox News continues to use it anyway. (H/T Christopher S.)

The article states:

A national Fox News Latino poll of likely Latino voters conducted under the direction of Latin Insights and released in March showed that almost half of respondents, or 46 percent, say the term “illegal immigrant” is offensive, while only a little over a third, or 35 percent, think the term is accurate. About 7 percent are neutral about the term.

… “The word illegal is an accurate description for actions, but not individuals,” former Fox News Latino Managing Editor Alberto Vourvoulias-Bush said earlier this year. “We don’t use it to describe people who commit other crimes. We write about unlicensed drivers, for example, not illegal drivers.”

So either Fox News is ignorant about the results of a poll its sister network conducted or it’s aware of how Latinos feel about the “illegal” word and doesn’t care.

Maybe Fox News is using the proper term, not the popular term. They should survey all immigrants to see if its insulting to not only latinos but irish, indian, chinese etc. Way to have a thin skin and not look beyond your little community. You are not the only culture that has come to America.

They don’t care.

Latino FoxGOPTV wasn’t put into place to get a Latino audience. That was never their intention. It was put into place to try and convince the world that FoxGOPTV isn’t a cesspool of racism. Their effort is a complete failure. They’ll never convince anyone with a functioning brain that they are not racists.

Romney never had any chance at the latino vote. He could get a spray tan and change his name to Mitteo Romriguez and it wouldn’t help.
