Fox News hosts have all but broken into “Lock her up!” chants, referring to Hillary Clinton, in their reactions to the firing of FBI Director James Comey. That just happens to give them an excellent excuse to avoid spending too much time reflecting on just how badly Donald Trump has botched it.
Newsweek has a great rundown:
Thursday night’s episode of Hannity revealed a parallel universe. Sean Hannity defended the dismissal and said Comey’s crime was not mistreatment of the Clintons but going too easy on them. “The most dangerous thing he’s been doing is to create a two-tier justice system, one for Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton and one for the rest of us.”
Hannity then went through a list of statutes he said Hillary Clinton may have violated, noting, “We have identified as many as 16 felonies” she may have committed. (The source for all this, Fox News viewers learned from watching, was “former U.S. Attorney Rudy Giuliani.” The former New York mayor has not been a U.S. attorney since the 1980s.)
As it happens, Giuliani may be in legal hot water before Clinton is. His admission on Fox & Friends, that he knew in advance that Comey would re-open the investigation into Clinton's emails in late October could be an admission that he was a co-conspirator with the New York FBI agents who leaked them. Last week, Comey revealed that the FBI is looking into those leaks and that it's something he is "very, very interested in."
But don't expect to hear anything about that on Hannity any time soon.
Some more details from Newsweek:
In case you missed the point, the panelists on The Five that same evening went through a segment about the Clinton case possibly being reopened: “Coming up next! Why Hillary Clinton might need some good lawyers!”
The Fox show also touted an interview with a former FBI agent who said the bureau might reopen the case—although no explanation was offered about why someone who no longer even works there would have any insight. Jesse Watters, one of the show hosts, said that he’d like to see the investigation reopened and that the Clinton Foundation should be probed as well.
Media Matters caught more “Lock her up!” segments.
Newsweek noted that Fox even played clips of Trump campaign crowds chanting “Lock her up!” … so that Fox hosts didn’t have to.

The case against Hillary was always overblown by Fox News.
Since Trump takes his cues from Fox News and Limbaugh, I’m expecting to hear about Sessions and the new FBI Director re-opening and expanding the investigation, with an emphasis on getting criminal indictments before the end of summer. Idea would be to get that perp walk around the time that the fall budget goes in, so that they’ll have an alternate cover story for the media. And then the trial would be smack in the middle of the midterm elections.
Keep in mind that these guys will always try to change the narrative whenever they can. So the story isn’t that Trump badly lost the popular vote – it’s that there must be millions of fraudulent votes. The story isn’t that Trump’s campaign was colluding with Russian agents to mess around with the election – it’s that someone is leaking that information to the press.
And of course these guys have already managed to distract everyone with Trump’s antics from the actual work being done by Mike Pence every day at the White House.
When Flynn spills his guts as per his blab-for-leniency agreement, the whole damn house of cards is going to collapse. And PResident Evil will be exposed for all to see – as the STOOPID, cheating, lying, thieving, treasonous, piece of shit he is and always has been. This time round there’s a big difference though – unlike Tricky Dick’s fall, when it was only his inner circle that suffered, Trump will bring down damn near the whole Repugly establishment.
The team that calls sessions a man with integrity is priceless. Not much to see here folks the usual spinning by fox
