Yesterday’s Cavuto on Business promoted the “It’s winter, there’s no global warming, it’s a hoax” attack on President Obama’s global warming regulations. FoxNews.com and host Neil Cavuto “just asked” about the regulations, “Taxpayers on the end of another show job?” But it was “fair and balanced” Fox doing the real shoveling – and it wasn’t just snow they were throwing at their viewers.
Cavuto introduced the segment by saying,
Well, they say that timing is everything. Just wondering if anyone pushing the latest global warming rules from the White House bothered taking a look outside any window at the White House. …(T)alk about awkward timing. The White House announcing its latest climate change executive action in the middle of a whiteout, setting up new climate hubs to help farmers and soon others. Sounds like maybe taxpayers are on the end of another snow job?
None of the guests on the panel indicated that they had any expertise in climate science. But that didn’t stop them from playing experts on Fox News TV:
Charles Payne said, “It sounds like another big-time, cash free-for-all for all the administration’s friends.”
Charlie Gasparino declared, “We have still very high unemployment, we’ve got a lot of problems in this country, but this is what they waste their time on. I mean, it’s ridiculous.”
Adam Lashinsky was the lone voice of dissent. He said, “I don’t think they’re wasting their time. …What needs to be championed are other ways of fighting global warming, which is real, and that’s really the conversation that we’re having. The rest of you don’t think it’s real.”
Cavuto feigned balance: “I don’t disagree that the Earth is warming up a little bit, I just know that it was marketed some years ago as global warming and then when it didn’t look like we were having as many warm winters as was figured, they called it climate change as to cover everything, but to put this onus exclusively on man for this phenomenon, and that man must fix it and pay trillions of dollars to fix it, that I think is (illegible).”
Gasparino doubled down: “It’s a money grab. …It’s all nonsensical, it’s all based on a fear-based sort of agenda.”
Dagen McDowell announced, “Our C02 emissions have been falling in recent years.”
Lashinsky argued, “You’re anti progress. …We created automobiles, automobiles were really dangerous, so we added safety features. …Man is creating a lot of these problems, not all of them, and so we should do what we can.”
“Hubs are the answer?” Gasparino replied. “…It sounds so insane. …This is not pure science, this is a political movement. …They manipulate the numbers all the time.”
What’s really insane is that anything calling itself a news network would present this baloney as legitimate analysis. The real facts are that 97% of scientists agree that global warming is happening and mankind is causing it. In 2006, CO2 levels reached the highest ever recorded, the rising sea level is threatening both Florida’s coastline and its economy and 2001-2010 was the hottest decade ever – topping the 1981-1990 distinction and the even hotter 1991-2000 decade.
