In case you had any doubt that Fox News considers Duck Dynasty’s Robertson family as one of their own kind, check out much New Year’s Eve co-Host Elisabeth Hasselbeck slobbered over Willie and Korie Robertson when they joined the telecast last night. Co-host Bill Hemmer repeatedly tried to get the couple to disparage A&E but it was all love and “happy, happy, happy,” as Korie Robertson put it, between them and the network.
Think there was any concern for how father Phil Robertson had insulted gays and African Americans in his GQ interview? Of course not! To Fox News, Robertson is Pope Francis, President Obama and even Martin Luther King – all in one person!
No, the only concern expressed was how the Robertson family felt about the A&E network suspending Phil Robertson (a decision that was recently reversed).
Hemmer asked Willie Robertson, “What did you think of A&E’s decision regarding your father a couple of weeks ago?” Later Hemmer asked in a friendly way, “What’s your father doing tonight?” (Probably sleeping, Willie said.)
Willie said he’s “fine” with A&E and “We’re just glad to be back to work …We’re ready to start it all over again.”
Hemmer pressed, “How did you arrive at that decision – to stay with the network?”
Willie said they’re “ready to move on.” Korie added, “I’m just glad the family’s back together. …We’re all happy, happy, happy.”
Hasselbeck twice mentioned how “thankful” she was to have the couple with them last night. She told Korie, “I’ve known you as a great mom and an awesome wife!” Hasselbeck asked such hard-hitting questions as, “Tell us what fun we’re going to be seeing from you guys” in the upcoming season.
Then, as if to remind their viewers how close they all are, Hasselbeck gushed, “We had a great time with y’all when we came out to visit.” Nice little southern touch there with the “y’all” from Hasselbeck – who seems to have lived all her life in the north.
Hasselbeck continued, “I had the best time with your family. …We are thankful you joined our family today… We wish you all the most happy new year.”
Despite all the fellowship, this was really nothing less than a big F.U. to gays, African Americans and anyone else offended by the crude homophobia and bigotry expressed by Fox’s latest Special Victim, Phil Robertson.
Ironically, Fox called the show “All-American New Year’s Eve.” But clearly, only some Americans were invited to the party.
Hey, Willie, ever think about getting the tips of your beard frosted the way you used to do your hair?

May one of the Robertson’s clan comes out of the closet. Let’s see how the Duckman handle that gem. Or, one of their clan members get a DUI in Louisiana.

What would Phil do if one of his “kin” gets a high school diploma or even a GED???
Oh the horror!
My jaw dropped the other week when I found out (from a post here) that she lived for several years no more than two blocks from me.
NOTE TO ROBERTSON
Since you are into sermons let’s throw these verses at you.
“Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged!” and “Let Him Who is Without Sin Cast the First Stone.”

Yeah, sponsors don’t respond well to people who put them in a spot with their company’s ousourcing masters. Between this and all his other crap, if Robertson’s ratings aren’t breaking records, he’s breaking A&E. And my only question is how closely this will mirror Beck’s standoff with broadcast reality.
slobbering over these wannabe rednecks just to tick off liberals is a great way to run a “news” channel…
