Like the America of Jim Crow, Fox Nation is inhabited by racists who not only loathe African-Americans, but actually would like to see them dead. As such, those who select articles for Fox Nation appear to deliberately post threads designed to make African-Americans look bad so that the patriotic Fox Nation residents can let loose with vile racist rhetoric. Such is the case with the thread titled "Football Stars Charged in Racial Knockout Game" which links to an article from World Net Daily which, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, is now trafficking in white nationalism. In implying a racial motivation for an alleged assault by a black man on a white man, the article suggests that racially motivated black on white crime is part of a national problem. Nice to see that Fox Nation, devoted to those who "oppose intolerance," is pushing a meme that's popular with white nationalists!
The WND article was written by Colin Flaherty who, according to the WND editor, has "done more reporting than any other journalist on what appears to be a nationwide trend of skyrocketing black-on-white crime, violence and abuse." The editor claims that "WND features these reports to counterbalance the virtual blackout by the rest of the media due to their concerns that reporting such incidents would be inflammatory or even racist" and that "WND considers it racist not to report racial abuse solely because of the skin color of the perpetrators or victims." Flaherty is the author of "White Girls Bleed a Lot, the Return of Racial Violence and How the Media is Ignoring It."
Flaherty's article makes the claim that three University of Pittsburgh football players were arrested and charged with assaulting a white man while playing the "knockout game" in which blacks find whites and beat them up. The problem is that the account, neither the Pittsburg Post Gazette nor the University of Pittsburg paper, say anything about this "knockout game." The article has a secondary link to "black mob violence."
Both the The Fox Nation and the WND article have video of a totally unrelated incident, from October, of a 15 year old African-American youth assaulting a Pittsburgh school teacher. In the account of this assault, nothing was said about a "knockout game."
Suffice to say that the Fox Nation thread is a veritable sewer of racist comments. The American Dream that Fox Nation believes in would appear to be dystopian nightmare full of vicious dark people assaulting godly white folks. (Shades of "Birth of a Nation?") So much for its core principles of "tolerance, open debate, and civil discourse!
Bet this guy is proud to be an American!
I don’t think all Republicans are racists, but all racists vote Republican.
Let’s list the names:
Allen West, Jesse Lee Peterson, Mia Love, Angela McGowan, Star Parker, Condi Rice, Michael Steele, Alveda King, etc.
It’s a pleasure making fools out of these right-wing extremists. These clowns are the reason the Republican Party will never win Senate seats and beyond.
What’s so amusing about the title is the fact that whenever you see a national news story involving a “missing” girl, the chances are greater than 95 times out of 100 that the girl just happens to be white. JonBenet Ramsey, Natalee Holloway, Laci Peterson, Chandra Levy—these are the cases the media can’t seem to get enough of. LaToyia Figueroa, Evelyn Hernandez—not so much. Or compare the stories of Jessica Lynch (white) and Shoshona Johnson (Black) and Lori Piestewa (Hopi Indian)—the three women soldiers were involved in the same ambush situation in Iraq, with Piestewa being killed in action, but the media turned Lynch into their “darling,” something which Lynch herself heavily criticized. (There seems to be a similar circumstance when it comes to missing boys, but—somewhat oddly—stories of missing boys is a bit less well-covered. Of course, we could look at the Etan Patz story—a case of a white boy who disappeared more than 30 years ago suddenly gets nationwide coverage after someone implicates himself.)
It seems to me that the media does a lot of covering “white girls” who are the victims of crime, regardless of who perpetrates the crime while ignoring “girls of color” (and let’s not even get into the media blindness when it comes to transgendered victims).
The fact that they’re not proves even they know WND’s blowing smoke.
