Remember Scott Orton? He’s the Fox Nation commenter known as JoseywhaIes who repeatedly threatened various Fox News targets with assassination. Thanks to one of our readers who kept track of Orton’s threats, he is off to jail for a year.
We first reported on Orton, who commented under the name “JoseyWhaIes,” in June 2015. At that time, we were only aware of his multiple attempts to have Marilyn Mosby, the Maryland prosecutor in the Freddie Gray case, murdered.
Not only did Fox Nation fail to report Orton to authorities, he wasn’t even banned from posting. About a month later, we caught him offering money for the murder of the sheriff of San Francisco (related to the Kate Steinle case Fox has relentlessly hyped) and others who unwittingly became part of some Planned Parenthood sting videos also heavily promoted on Fox. That included Cate Dyer of StemExpress.
In addition to the hideous comment above, Orton announced on Fox Nation, he was on his way to kill Dyer.
Thanks to some quick work by reader Andrew, we were able to notify both the intended victim and police. Thankfully, the FBI located Orton in Puyallup, Washington; he was arrested and he will soon be in jail.
Today, Andrew and I received a lovely thank you note from Dyer as well as an article about Orton’s sentencing. It has some fascinating information about him, including this:
Orton, a socially isolated self-employed home inspector, joined Fox Nation in 2012. By the time he was arrested, he had posted tens of thousands of comments on the site’s articles.
[…]
Orton previously threatened the Puyallup City Council – “I loathe your deeds,” he wrote in 2009 – and the staff of The News Tribune.
“Bubba is extremely angry,” he told the Tacoma newspaper. “We can do nothing to stop Bubba and the clock is ticking.”
Now apologetic, Orton also threatened prior to his arrest that he would behead the FBI agents investigating him. The agents, he said on posts on Fox Nation, should be “hung from overpasses” and “executed in the streets.”
So this guy has been threatening murder since at least 2009 and he posted tens of thousands of comments on Fox Nation since 2012, including at least six murder threats we stumbled on in 2015. How many more do you think there had to be? The point is, regardless of the number it’s simply inexcusable, if not some kind of legal negligence, for Fox Nation to have allowed this to continue. For any length of time.
Nevertheless, we’re happy for Ms. Dyer, glad we were able to help and extremely relieved that this dangerous guy will soon be off the streets.
By the way, Orton is white and, of course, conservative. Therefore, I don’t expect any kind of "Factor investigation" from Bill O'Reilly. Even though he threatened to put Black Lives Matter "out of business" because it's a "hate group." “If you call for (someone’s) demise, that’s hatred,” O'Reilly claimed.
Watch him below, from the August 31, 2015 The O'Reilly Factor.
This clown is now a convicted felon which means his life as he knows it is finished. No loans, no guns (unless he buys one from a crook), no jobs, no clients, etc. Karma came for him, big time.
In fact, you know where the only place you never heard about this was? Fox News. I think when they had to bring it up, it was some kinda deal about them being persecuted… So good luck hearing about it now that they got this one on ice.
