Fox Nation used the anniversary of Rosa Parks’ refusal to give up her bus seat as – what else? An occasion to smear President Obama. Although Fox Nation boasts about its dedication to civility, tolerance and unity, there seems to be only one post about this milestone in history: President Obama Honors Rosa Parks Anniversary With Picture Of…Himself. I’m sure the editors will be shocked, shocked I tell you, to find that the readers responded with comments such as, “Id love a signed picture of obama.... for target practice.”
The photo on Fox Nation is via a White House tweet in which the president was sitting on the Rosa Parks bus. I don’t know who Fox Nation thought should have been in the photo given that Parks died on October 24, 2005 and the bus is obviously no longer in service. But in case you thought the “fair and balanced” network had any sincere interest in Parks, it’s worth noting that Fox was the only news network not to cover a December, 2005 ceremony of then-President George W. Bush authorizing a statue of Parks to be placed in the U.S. Capitol.
Here is a stomach-churning selection of comments, via our reader J.L. I’ll be forwarding them to the White House.
I’ve never seen anyone point to Herman Cain or Alan Keyes or Allen West as proof they’re not racists. I have occasionally seen someone defend themselves by saying they have people of color in their family – and then use that to bolster their attacks on Obama or Michelle or whomever.
Continue to connect these right-wing extremists to the Republican Party.
Pick the best joke that entered into your head reading that sentence. Then throw up.
