When Fox’s Juan Williams tried to explain why he thinks it’s important to have a woman take part in Fox’s presidential debate for Republican candidates, cohost Kimberly Guilfoyle started shouting at him.
Fox’s decision to limit debate participation to the top 10 in the polls would, as of now, keep out Carly Fiorina and Bobby Jindal. Yesterday, on The Five, cohost Williams wanted to discuss why he feels Fiorina’s participation matters. But, clearly, cohosts Guilfoyle and Dana Perino didn’t want to hear it.
Williams said Fiorina is important “because she’d be the only woman.” He added, “I think it’s so important for the Republicans.”
Guilfoyle interrupted. “No, not because she’s the only woman!"
”Oh I think it is,” Williams insisted.
Now Perino interrupted “What? You can’t say that!” she exclaimed.
Guilfoyle called Williams’ comments “condescending.”
“That’s not the only reason to have her in the debate,” Perino objected.
But Williams was not deterred. “I think that for the Republican party to show that there’s a woman in the mix is a good thing for the party,” he said. “I think it’s good to have Ben Carson, a person of color, up there again representing a different….”
Guilfoyle interrupted again. “Whoa, whoa, whoa, whooooa. Flag on the play! This is not affirmative action politics,” she said.
“I didn’t say it was,” Williams replied.
Guilfoyle yelled, “This is the President of the United States of America!”
”So you think only white men deserve to be on the stage for the Republican party?” Williams asked.
Perino said sarcastically, “I can’t believe there’s only a white woman on the stage on the Democratic stage.”
Fair and balanced? Only when you’re saying something Fox conservatives want to hear.
