When a Democrat criticized Donald Trump for attacking New Mexico’s Latina governor, Fox host Harris Faulkner jumped in to blame Governor Susana Martinez and suggested that she’s prejudiced against Trump.
In a discussion on Outnumbered about Trump working to turn blue states red, Democratic cohost Julie Roginsky said that Trump needs to “expand the tent” and start appealing to women.
ROGINSKY: And what he did last week is, he went to New Mexico and really excoriated the Republican Latina governor of New Mexico, Susana Martinez. That’s not expanding the tent. That’s compressing the tent. …You won the Republican primary. Don’t go shooting inside the tent.
…He’s gotta consolidate the Republican vote. My advice to him would be, “Stop trashing Susana Martinez. Stop trashing people who you’re gonna need to work on your behalf.”
Cohost Faulkner jumped in, once again feigning the role of “reasonable analyst” to camouflage her Trump cheerleading. First, Faulkner blamed Martinez for not showing up to Trump’s rally in Albuquerque last week, then Faulkner suggested Martinez’ dislike of Trump is because of her ethnicity.
FAULKNER: OK, so to pick up on this Susana Martinez, just for, just a second… We know that she was not in his camp. There were calls within the party for her to at least show up to the rally that was scheduled, to at least, you know, maybe not endorse him. So there is some bad blood there, I guess, for lack of a better term, right there. And I don’t know if it’s a demographic thing. I understand what you’re saying could be a residual effect of that but I’m curious to know what the divide is between Donald Trump and Susana Martinez I and maybe we’ll know in coming days.
Maybe Faulkner doesn’t know "what the divide is" but anyone willing to do a simple Google search would. Martinez has criticized Trump's comments about Mexican immigrants and she opposes his plans for a bigger border wall. But she was not the only New Mexican official to snub Trump. Her lieutenant governor, the Republican mayor of Albuquerque and the only federal Republican legislator in New Mexico all declined to attend.
Yet Martinez was the only one attacked by Trump. And he mocked her, saying, “Hey, maybe I’ll run for governor of New Mexico. I’ll get this place going.” He also falsely accused her of admitting Syrian refugees and wrongly said they were arriving in “large numbers.” In fact, AP reports that the total since 2011, is 10.
But Faulkner overlooked all those facts as she suggested that it was Martinez’ fault Trump behaved so poorly.
By the way, Faulkner also blamed Senator John McCain when Trump smeared his war-hero status.
Watch it below, from the May 30 Outnumbered.
It’s surreal to know African-Americans overwhelmingly supporting Hillary, meanwhile the only African-American on the panel, Harris Faulkner, is intent on pimping Trump’s road to victory is winning the white vote. Seriously?
Women overwhelmingly are for Hillary, yet, other than a token liberal (who does a good job here shining some reality into the discussion), all the ladies are expressing the hope their white male counterparts will deliver the election to The Donald. Seriously?
Probably the most surreal moment is a delusional Ollie North fantasizing the NRA convention is a representative selection of the electorate. Seriously? Not to mention Trump’s immediate flip-flop following his pro-gun speech must have the NRA scratching their pointy heads.
In the previous thread on the Trumpsters possibly being bugged, I ranted extensively on Der Furor’s ‘Hispanic outreach’ regarding his raging against Martinez and the ‘Mexican’ judge in his Trump University fraud case. I’ll pass repeating myself here other than to say thin-skinned bigot Trump is only reinforcing his hostility to Hispanics. I see him making no inroads into that population.
I find it amazing that FOX News analysts can make such a blatantly white males for Trump argument and not see what it means both about the candidate and the party. Yet, this pack of Republican shills put on their rose colored glasses and see bigot magnet Trump’s thin demographic appeal as a strength. Seriously?
If Hillary wasn’t such a weak Democratic candidate being made weaker every day by Johnny-come-lately Democrat Sanders, I don’t think Trump would have a chance. But, unfortunately, far left (and way out of the mainstream) Bernie, boosted in the primaries (largely by inbred caucuses), has become completely full of himself and is determined to drag the Democratic party to the Progressive left so the party won’t be electable nationally for a generation by promising “disrupting” the convention even if he clearly loses the delegate fight. I fear Hillary will run out of time to get the party unified behind her before she can even broaden her appeal to the larger, much less leftist electorate. Meanwhile, expert salesman and persuader The Donald will flip-flop his way to broader appeal.
For example, The Donald has said publicly he’s all in for Social Security. Yet, we here from people in the room during his meeting with Paul Ryan he’s “morally” for gutting the program. He just expressed his fear to Ryan he can’t tell the truth to the voters so just bear with his public lies until he gets in the White House. Can Hillary exploit this? Nope. She’s too busy spending money, time, and other resources fighting off crackpot Bernie.
Nightmare Der Furor can easily win. But the real story is the Democrats shooting themselves in the foot, not the power of Trump to bring out the ‘silent majority’ (who aren’t) of Archie Bunkers.
Time to head to work. Rant over. ;^)
Reminds me of the stories about beatings being “for the good” of the person being beaten.
Donald Trump’s politics are lousy if he thinks alienation of Latina women is the key to success. He just shot a big hole in his foot.
