In case you missed it, Fox Nation recently removed an Ann Coulter article for Town Hall in which she “joked” that she wants Meghan McCain to be murdered first if people start shooting the families of Republican Senators. Before you start thinking that Fox finally decided it’s against comments about killing someone (after a long history of condoning them) consider Coulter’s cozy, chummy visit as the top story on Hannity last night.
The part that makes Coulter’s comment even worse? She was trying to shame MSNBC’s Martin Bashir for his admittedly tasteless suggestion about what it would take to make the GOP consider gun control. From New York Magazine:
The excerpt published on Fox came from a longer post on Coulter’s own blog referencing a segment with Martin Bashir on MSNBC in which Bashir spoke to Rep. Elijah Cummings, a Democrat from Maryland, about Republicans’ plan to filibuster a gun control bill. Cummings’s nephew was shot and killed in a 2011 murder that has gone unsolved, and he was making the point to Bashir that violence can touch anyone. Coulter, like others in the fringe right-wing media, only paid attention to this part though:
“But Congressman,” Bashir said, “is that what needs to happen to move these senators to stop threatening a filibuster? Is that really what needs to happen? That you need to have a member of your family killed in order for you to do what the American people want you to do?”
“I hope not,” Rep. Cummings replied. “I don’t wish this pain on anybody.”
As reported by Salon, Fox Nation eventually removed the article after it created a stir that included McCain, herself, tweeting that she should expect nothing less, but that her family gets a lot of very real threats. The article was taken down shortly afterwards, perhaps as a move to avoid a lawsuit. One thing that seems certain is that Fox didn’t have a problem with the substance of the column or they would not have posted it in the first place. And they would have apologized for having done so.
Instead, Coulter was the first guest on Hannity last night where she got a friendly platform to defend herself. She grinned wolfishly as Hannity announced that she “got in trouble again.” Then, throwing any notions of taking personal responsibility into the same trashcan into which she threw her notions about voting where she actually lives – Coulter began to whine that Bashir “who was not joking” was not getting criticized enough. Of course, it was Coulter, not Bashir, who came out with the blatant suggestion about killing someone: “Let’s start with Meghan McCain!” And, of course, Hannity did not point that out.
Coulter continued whining, saying that there isn’t any other famous child of a Republican to joke about assassinating. She “quipped” that she had made a joke about Ron Reagan junior the week before: “I don’t want it to be overkill,” she said, apparently in seriousness, to a rapt Hannity. And then she actually began to hold herself up as some kind of champion of life. “Your proposals will lead to more dead kids. Our proposals will stop dead kids.” Yeah, she just jokes about killing kids while she’s advocating for saving them!
“I’m glad to see you don’t want to see children killed, you were being sarcastic,” Hannity assured everyone. She giggled with girlish self-approval. “Everyone laughed when they read it,” she added.
Of course, Meghan McCain didn’t. But why would anyoneon Fox quibble when most of Coulter’s murder fantasies are aimed at liberals?

Hannocchio’s boney girlfriend will always get a pass, no matter how outrageous the comments. He will defend her honor. So romantic!
The Stop Hannity Express encourages all the masses to Tweet John McCain and ask him why Hannocchio gives Annie’s comments about his daughter a pass @senjohnmccain.
NOTE TO ANNIE
He is still controlling you.
NOTE TO HANNITY
Surely, someone with your millions can afford to pay for a full breakfast instead of a continental breakfast at the upcoming Talkers conference. You are cheap.
The guy admitted that he was U Mad, several other names, and tried to claim he was the “Morty Shatz” that was harassing several of us on Facebook. When they were skeptical about him, he claimed he got around bans with an IP mask. He also tried claiming that he was an account that was stalking several hounds on FB, and he tried cashing in on living right by me to say he was following me around IRL.
Three guesses how that backfired. HINT: Someone actually was at the time.
But enough about about him. He’s off-topic, and he wouldn’t matter if he wasn’t.
But to answer your question: It’s because all the violent lunatics seem to like Republican politics, and Republican media cares too much about who has the bigger crowd to tell them to get lost.
It’s time that her publishers and those that give her the airtime to spit out her hate realize that making money should not be their only priority when it comes to inciting others or wishing harm to someone you disagree with. This is not a joke, it’s sick, and it time that the media just ignore her and stop putting her on a pedestal and just let fade away into the oblivion she deserves to be in.
Thus far, Crazy Annie Coulter has “joked” about killing:
- a sitting US President [Clinton]
- a sitting US Supreme Court Justice [Stevens]
- and now, the daughter of a sitting US Senator [McCain]
Why does rightwingnut “humor” always involve murder?
