Fox News discussed NY Mayor Bill de Blasio’s press conference on Monday by trotting out Republican politician Dan Bongino, concealing his political ambitions and then giving him a friendly platform to smear de Blasio with unsubstantiated accusations.
On Your World, host Charles Payne introduced Bongino merely as a “former New York City police officer.” That seems to be true but since then, Bongino has been a Republican candidate in Maryland for the U.S. Senate in 2012 and then for the House of Representatives in 2014. If his website is any indication, he plans to try again again in 2016.
Bongino did not waste a lot of time getting down to the Fox meme of demanding the Democratic de Blasio’s resignation. But Bongino added some of his own special smears while he was at it.
BONGINO: This is a man who believes in the advancement and trading of chaos, believes in the destruction of American institutions. He subscribes to an ideology that is so un-American, and if that press conference didn’t just drive that home, and Charles, to double down on the embarrassment for this man, to blame the media, the New York City media that has covered for this guy, the large majority of them, that was a humiliating experience, and should be reason alone for this man to resign in shame tomorrow.
…This man is unfit to lead. He does not believe in what made this country great, and that humiliating press conference hammered it home.”
Bongino did not provide any proof of such outrageous accusations. Instead of challenging them, Payne muttered “right” a few times while Bongino spoke.
Fox News “fair and balanced” on display!
By the way, in a recent post on Bongino’s Facebook page, he wrote, “I hope and pray that, as a united country, we can begin to recognize and sideline the public voices among us that are profiting from dividing us.”
