On yesterday’s Your World, guest Michael Boyd, International Chair of Boyd Group, attacked Democrats for claiming that sequester spending cuts will trigger long airport delays. Boyd said, “These Democrats should be ashamed of themselves. There’s no need to do this. I think LaHood has been given the order by Obama: ‘Make sure maximum inconvenience is put upon the public on Friday.’ There’s no need for these kind of cutbacks; it’s going to hurt the economy.” He agreed that the cuts may be “terrible” but if so, it’s the Democrats who are “going to create it.”
Cavuto asked, “Is it a lack of funding that’s the issue here and will cutting it in any way, shape or form at least compromise some of this security that they talk about?”
Boyd said, “…It’s absolutely reprehensible and irresponsible, and those statements they are making is to scare the public, and they want to do everything they can on Friday to make sure that the public suffers through this to make a political point. …Ray LaHood is the vintage politician, he’ll do anything he’s told, and what he’s going to be doing on Friday is saying to people, ‘Look you’re in a long line because the Republicans wouldn’t do what we asked. Isn’t this terrible?’ …It’s going to really harm the economy and they’re going to put that up just to make some political points.”
Cavuto didn’t mention any possibility that the Republicans might bear at least some of the blame. Nor did he point out that 49% of Americans already say they’ll blame Republicans more if the sequester is not averted compared to 31% who would blame the President.
