Fox News election sour grapes: John Kerry Swift Boat Edition. It seems like those Foxies are figuring that if their guy can’t win, why not make Obama’s second term as miserable as possible? How else to explain their revisiting the Swift Boat smears just because Kerry is being talked about as a possible Secretary of Defense? Enter Megyn Kelly and her “objective” America Live show.
As Ellen posted a little earlier, Kelly gave the Swifties undeserved credibility yesterday as she introduced a news report about Kerry (that also smeared him). But that was small potatoes compared to her guest, Fox News “strategic analyst” Ralph Peters.
Peters, in an angry voice, called the Defense Secretary position a “consolation prize.” He said it would be a “remarkable, brute insult to the men and women in uniform to nominate for Secretary of Defense a man who made his political career trashing our military, criticizing it, who told lies about war crimes in Vietnam, and who more recently – and your viewers heard the clip - joked about how stupid and uneducated our soldiers were. And I don’t want to hear, “John Kerry’s a combat veteran. So is Benedict Arnold.”
Michael Meehan, CEO of Vennsquared Communications fought back. “Are you out of your mind? John Kerry got the Silver Star for his service in Vietnam. He went twice. Signed up and volunteered twice to serve in the war.”
It’s worth noting that Kelly made no effort to challenge Peters’ over-the-top and shockingly disrespectful comment. In fact, she went on to re-air the Swift Boat ad that was mounted against him in 2004. Once again, she didn’t mention just how much the Swifties have been discredited nor how they were funded by the biggest Republican campaign donor in Texas during the latter part of Kerry’s campaign against Texan President George W. Bush. However, she did make a point to ask for Meehan’s “thoughts” about that old Fox chestnut of a Kerry-smear, “stuck in Iraq.”
It’s true Antoinette their efforts to smear any and every Dem that makes headlines just seems pathetic when we consider that the Fox smear machine with four whole years of effort, could not make the majority in the US believe those smears against Pres Obama. Their smear machine may actually be having the opposite effect!
They tried to stop Obama, but it didn’t work. The shock on these frauds’ faces was priceless when he won re-election.
Fox “News” is an anchor that continues to take down the GOP.
NOTE TO ROGER AILES
Thanks to you, the Republican Party lost seats. Keep up the good work, old man.
