President Obama blasted Donald Trump during a news conference in Japan, saying that world leaders are “rattled” by Trump “and for good reason.” Apparently unable to prove Obama wrong, Fox News trotted out Karl Rove to attack Obama.
From The New York Times:
“I think it’s fair to say that they are surprised by the Republican nominee; they are not sure how seriously to take some of his pronouncements,” Mr. Obama said.
He added, “A lot of the proposals that he’s made display either ignorance of world affairs or a cavalier attitude or an interest in getting tweets and headlines instead of actually thinking through what it is that is required to keep America safe and secure and prosperous and what’s required to keep the world on an even keel.”
"I just think it was unseemly,” Rove told Fox host Neil Cavuto. Then he began attacking President Obama’s past foreign policy moves such as withdrawing troops from Iraq and waffling on Syria, as though that was at all relevant to the issues at hand.
Rove lectured Obama for making "a highly partisan attack on a Republican presumptive nominee for president” while on foreign soil. “He should've said, ‘You know what? Plenty of time for politics. I strongly support the nominee of my party, but we're not here to talk about American politics today."
Cavuto added, "There is that kind of decorum that comes with an office that President Obama thinks Donald Trump is ill equipped for." Later, he said, "Seems like he's a little obsessed with Trump."
"I think he has an unnatural fascination with the election," Rove said. “Everything is about him.”
Of course President Obama would be horrified at the thought of Trump succeeding him in office.
But instead of pointing that out, Cavuto gave Rove the stamp of approval: "Good catching up with you my friend, be well."
