The House of Representatives will almost certainly impeach Donald Trump today or, more accurately, this evening.
NOTE: This post will stay at the top of the page until 8 PM but there will be at least one later post today that will appear underneath it.
I’ll be dipping in and out of the proceedings.
According to Brian Stelter, Fox’s coverage will begin at 9 AM. Bret Baier and Chris Wallace will lead the coverage with contributions from Martha MacCallum, Bill Hemmer and Julie Banderas. “Constitutional expertise and legal commentary” are to be provided by Andrew McCarthy and Trey Gowdy.
Apparently, the commentary of Fox’s senior judicial analyst, Andrew Napolitano, who just happens to believe Trump deserves impeachment, will not be a part of the coverage.
Politico predicts the final vote will occur between 6:30 and 7:30 PM ET.

Even those who were not listening intently to the hearings will have time to reflect and we can even expect the President himself to go off the rails as he is wont to do. Witness his tweets about Christianity Today being a far-left publication. I mean, really ??? Gimmmeabreak.
When the holidays are over, the delivery of the articles of impeachment to the Senate will occur in a totally different light and the anticipated attempt of McConnell et. al. railroad the trial through the Senate – in violation of the oath taken at the start – will be perceived by many more people as a travesty of the Constitution. Not the fun-game they thought they could get away with. (contempt of the Constitution and all that it stands for!).
According to latest polls, over two-thirds of Americans and almost two-thirds of Republicans would already like to hear what Bolton and Mulvanny have to say. I hope that those people will give the GOPers an earfull during the holidays.
#MoscowMitch will feel no pressure whatsoever to do anything but dismiss the impeachment.
I’m not saying holding the impeachment in the House is a winning proposition for the Democrats. Though it at least holds the process over Trump’s head to discourage future bad behavior. Caving to #MoscowMitch ensures future Trump corruption and endless GOP talking points.
Speaker Pelosi should transmit the Articles of Impeachment a few minutes before Mango’s State of the Union address in January.
McConnell will have to do something else in order to get that eagerly anticipated opportunity to (mis)behave like a capricious child. His sniggering was off-putting to say the least.
Here’s hoping that week after week of “breaking news” on GOP efforts to rig the Senate phase will allow ordinary people to reflect on has been/is happening.
Those who know me would have known what I meant but – just in case some troll objects – please replace NONE with ALL as seen below:
“They are also willfully ignoring the fact that ALL of the witnesses that might have provided evidence to the contrary were PREVENTED from testifying by … the defendant, Donald John Trump.”
I should add, however, that quite a few people who’d been told NOT to testify disobeyed that illegal order. Like the child who cried “The Emperor is naked!”, they are the heroes of this sad story.
I have placed a standing order with my bookshop to put aside any book they may write in future.
While GOPers whined and wandered all over the place, providing proof after proof of wilful ignorance, Dems to a wo/man behaved like adults with facts ready to hand.
Could be my Polyanna streak, but I trust that a few pastors/priests groaned loudly when that idiot compared Christ to their Dear Leader. Oh! That should be the other way round, shouldn’t it?
I’d be more than happy for Nancy to defer presenting the articles to the Senate until MacConnell agrees to a decent set of rules. The longer she waits, the further Trump’s stocks will have fallen.
“You are the ones interfering in America’s elections! You are the ones subverting America’s Democracy! You are the ones Obstructing Justice! You are the ones bringing pain and suffering to our Republic for your own selfish personal, political and partisan gain!”
Has there ever been a more textbook example of pure projection?
We need to see a clean sweep come November, followed by absolute deluge of legislation to clean up the electoral process once and for all, rejig the tax and welfare systems, ensure every American has decent healthcare and education, and rebalance the Supreme Court – all within 2 years. You cannot risk a repeat of the Tea Potty debacle of 2010.
