Megyn Kelly dared to make some sort-of critical comments about Donald Trump's so-called ISIS policy (the one he won't tell us about) and that set his little fingers itching and twitching for his Twitter keyboard to attack her again.
As Mediaite reported, "During a segment of her show tonight, Kelly talked with her guests about where exactly Trump stands on combatting ISIS. She brought up how Trump wants to 'bomb the oil fields,' but then reversed that later." Mediaite also noted that guest Stephen Hayes said it's "hard to figure out where Donald Trump is on a lot of these issues."
But Trump only went after Kelly, as the tweet below shows.
In May, I was struck by this comment from Trump during his interview with Kelly that supposedly put their animosity behind them:
TRUMP: (T)his could happen again with us. I mean it could be.
I wrote then, "If I were Kelly, I would not consider the hatchet buried between them. From the look on her face, I think she got the message."
It looks like I was right.

You have no idea what my strategy on ISIS is, and neither does ISIS (a good thing). Please get your facts straight - thanks. @megynkelly

I know a lot of serious Bernie supporters and they are all registered Democrats who vote (except, maybe, my twin nephews who are 22 and live in red states). Most will probably vote for Clinton but I’m not sure. One woman I know from having volunteered with on the John Kerry campaign insisted there’s no difference between Hillary and Trump. To me, there’s not much difference between Hillary and Kerry.
Yep. Exactly. So far Trump’s ISIS strategy is boasting he knows more about ISIS than our generals. Yep, the generals who have worked with our allies under the Obama administration to shrink ISIS territory by 40%. Yep, the same Der Furor whose only announced strategy in the War on Terrorism is ending ‘political correctness’ and scream “radical Islamic terrorism.”
But masturbating his ego he can fix anything by a snap of his short, stubby fingers with policy to always follow is Der Furor’s favorite political strategy. And even if you can get some rare specifics out of the loud mouth shill, he’ll flip-flop on a dime.
So I’m watching “CBS This Morning” interviewing Trump straight man Paul Manafort. The Democrats are discussing raising the minimum wage to a living wage at #DemsInPhilly so naturally Trump has flip-flopped on a dime away from Republican orthodoxy so he too now is expressing raising it. Amazing since we’ve all heard Trump oppose it in the past. WaPo quotes The Donald on his latest flip-flop: “Sure, it’s a change. I’m allowed to change. You need flexibility.” What does Manafort have to say about all of this? Oh, he blows smoke the campaign hasn’t issued a policy on this. This late in the game? Seriously? Didn’t #RNCinCLE formulate a platform plank on this? Oh my, more flip-flops to come folks!
The only problem for anyone with a brain is this election is driven by populism, a political form depending on driving emotion using demagoguery, exploiting fears, creating bogymen via demonization, and just generally being a happy talk producing crank. And, no, it’s not just The Donald. It’s Bernie too. Just different demons like the evil corporations and corrupt banksters and greedy wealthy. They hate those crushed by The Great Recession and did this on purpose because…. well… they’re just evil super-villains. Like Dr. Doom.
While Bernie has gone above and beyond trying to unify the Democrats at #DemsInPhilly, the reality he wasn’t every a Democrat nor are many of his followers. While WikiLeaks is creating a narrative of the DNC being against Bernie, the msm is missing the narrative Bernie was against the DNC. He became a Democrat only to use the party to become President and, now that he’s lost, he’s dropping his party affiliation and going back to being an independent. A small but vocal mass of his supporters have tried to wreck what is an amazing #DemsInPhilly convention with hundreds of them walking out yesterday because it’s Bernie or bust. They never were Democrats, they hoped to overthrow the party in a coup like the Trumpsters successfully have pulled off at the RNC.
So while I (and I believe most others here) are shocked the Democrats can keep clearly checking off all the right check boxes yet get no traction, that’s the downfall of demagogic populism. People prefer the crackpot, even self-destructive fantasy, to the hard reality of actually making change happen as Bill Clinton so beautifully articulated at #DemsInPhilly last night in his masterful talk to the American public about his wife, Hillary.
Trump got an inexplicable huge bounce following the dystopic abortion that was #RNCinCLE. If #DemsInPhilly can’t leapfrog Hair Hilter after their amazing line-up of articulate headliners producing a clear and contrasting positive vision, I’m going to start my own fantasy. A fantasy of retiring early retirement in some small town on the east coast of Italy rich in Medieval architecture, history, and tradition.
