Don’t Believe Fox’s Benghazi Frenzy Is Politically Motivated?

Posted by Ellen -393.40pc on October 27, 2012 · Flag

At the end of last night’s Hannity segment with Republican Congressmen Darrell Issa and Jason Chaffetz, a Romney surrogate, Sean Hannity dropped a question that made it clear the three of them were using the tragedy at Benghazi as political fodder. Just in case you had a doubt.

Hannity: I’d like to see that (surveillance) video. Any chance we get to see it before the election? Hear the audio?

Chaffetz: I hope so. We should. We should.

Issa: Only if it’s leaked to us.

Think he was dropping a hint?

Chaffetz: The president said he would. He said he’d show it as the information is out there.

Hannity: Well, let’s see, Mr. President Transparency. Mr. President, let the American people see this. Let’s get this in real time.

Yeah, let’s get this in “real time” so that we can use it to affect the election!

Tina, these bottom-feeding anti-Fox liberals have no reason to find the truth. They have an agenda of their own that doesn’t fit in with facts and truth.

The sitting president lying to the American people and allegedly watching as Americans are attacked and murdered is DEFINITELY something that needs to be looked into before the election. It is not just political, it is the only rational thing to do. If this information comes out and it is determined that he not only lied but gave the order to stand down, the damage is greater to the country than if her were to have been voted out when it was still possible.

The Military Commissions Act allows for enemy combatants to be transferred into military custody and tried before a military commission.

“Douglas wrote: “They were not Americans and are not afforded our constitutional rights as enemy combatants.”

The pin drops. Do you realise how damaging that sort of statement can be to the reputation of the USA as a beacon for the world?"

The constitution says “all men are created equal” not “all citizens are created equal” so if they are not to be given the same rights, and must be treated as enemy combatants as you claim, they should be subjected to Geneva Convention laws.

Also, yellow cake is uranium oxide. It’s neither pure uranium nor a weapon or even a raw material for WMD. The yellow cake was secured since 1991 and not something Iraq purchased afterwards. Get your facts straight! Everything you say here is factually challenged.

@Joshua: Anything said or written about Benghazi should be taken as hypothetical until proven on the basis of facts not faith. IMO, it’s early to have all the facts on something that happened in an isolated town so far away and in another country where neither the CIA nor the FBI have jurisdiction outside the premises of the diplomatic seats.

We may have drones but they’re not as effective as you’d like to believe them to be. What was happening was real life, not a Schwartzenegger film (e.g. where he’s wearing practically every fancy weapon ever invented by the scriptwriters but ends up using his fists to beat the bejezus out of fifteen or more enemy soldiers).

May I ask you (rhetorically): how long did it take to find out about the warnings that had been ignored prior to 9/11 in 2001? My recall is that the truth emerged after a couple of years. Not a peep on Fox. And that was an event that happened on American soil, not in another country halfway ’round the globe.

As I see it, Fox (and CNN aka FoxLite) are so eager to slam/slur Obama that they’re taking each and every tidbit and interpreting furiously (oh, those expressions of outrage!) it in the least positive light until they realise that it’s not sticking to the wall either. Then they pass on to the next tidbit.

Thats gossip-mongering, not journalism. Always my own personal opinion, of course.

@Nayef: Thanks for that list of things that Fox makes up.

Mine was a lot longer but it grew a pair of legs during the last spring-cleaning session. It’s somewhere around here, but where?

One case that still bugs me is not a pure case of invention; more a case of omission. I’m referring to the fact that – for almost ten years – Fox failed to report what the whole world had known for years, namely: there were no WMDs in Iraq. Heard them admit that for the first time about three months ago, sort of off-handedly. Haven’t heard anything of the sort since then but, then, I’m not glued to that channel. I watch them more for the fun of detecting their tricks (cf. the book entitled “Outfoxed”).

I do find it simply astonishing that the foxies are so surprised that Colin Powell supports Obama. He was really and truly deceived by the administration he served during the early 2000s.

“I assumed that two people who have suffered the living hell of Obama’s 4 years would be able to talk in generalities and each would be able to pick up on it and carry on the conversation.”

So, you want to be loose with facts and we should give you a pass? When you say a factually challenged statement, don’t expect people to say you’re right. I am assuming you never went to university; otherwise you’d know that’s not how it works. You are graded on what you say/do not on the assumption you meant to say something “correct” when your actual words are wild exaggerations.

The hell of the last 4 years is way better than the 8 under Bush, unless you were under a rock.

Your racism exposes you as a right wing nut. I didn’t ask you your thoughts on Sharia (which I am sure you know nothing about) but rather on people.

I was just going to ignore your foul mouthed lies, but I must apologize on one point….I did assume. I assumed that two people who have suffered the living hell of Obama’s 4 years would be able to talk in generalities and each would be able to pick up on it and carry on the conversation. Clearly you are not on such a level to understand any of my comments. I’m sorry I took you at having a level of intelligence of the average person.
BTW, Soros heavily funds Annenberg. I never said “owned”
And
I prefer to keep my thoughts on the stinking, shariah law following, 7th century cave dwelling pediphile pigs that are responsible for deaths and injuries to my friends from 9/11 to today to myself. Oh, and they can stuff their terrorist handbook up their asses too.
There, that will give you something to talk about.
Good night and good bye.

Also, ignorant fool, FactCheck is owned by Annenberg not Soros, but you wouldn’t know if you watch right-wing websites 24/7.

Don’t claim you’re not a right-winger. If you do, you’ll get asked about your views on gays, African Americans, Muslims, and Arabs. Your answers will quickly reveal your ideology.
Nayef Daher commented 2012-10-29 23:49:09 -0400 · Flag
Actually, it’s you who lacks any ability to even put together a coherent sentence and complain when we read what you write and disagree with you. You say, “ya it’s not true but come on assume I said something else” so it’s you who can’t have a serious conversation.

CBO said it saves money and all facts demonstrate Obama had no super majority for even 1 month. Clear from your silly attack on Fox boogey man Soros you are hooked on Fox beyond hope for cure. You write statements which are false (quoting CBO), make accusations which can’t back up (Obama signing rights away at the UN), and claim to have any facts on your side. You don’t, Go away!

By the way, Fox lied a lot in the past and posted discredited videos and never retracted them (ACORN pimp tapes for one). They also put D instead of R when a republican does something criminal or immoral and then claim it’s an “accident” yet it keeps happening. “Pollsters” they have (Frank Luntz) are partisan hacks who stalk up people decidedly conservative and pretend they represent America. They advance lies such as the birther issue and Secret Muslim (racist) non-sense.

Thanks, Doug.

That’s one for the “Wingnut HOF Quote Thread” in the forum . . .

I warned everyone I would be in for this foolishness as soon as I started posting anything. You don’t have any desire to have a conversation, but to argue every little word and point and divert from the issue as a whole picture. You clearly have an agenda to badmouth both conservatives and Fox and you have no intention of changing, no matter how wrong you are. I do not have all night to waste with someone who has no interest to discuss issues and make factual points. You still don’t let up on name calling, snarky remarks and attacks and diverting from the issues. I’m sure that arrogant and ignorant approach keeps you in good standing with your other unenlightened friends vowing to mislead people about Fox news. I’m sorry, but I have long since evolved from that type of juvenile behavior. You just keep listening to the mainstream media and it’s job of protecting Obama’s ass at all costs.
