It's the last night of the convention and if you're like me, you're eagerly awaiting Hillary Clinton's speech. We especially want to know what she will stress as her mission if she's elected. Share your thoughts and observations about Clinton and anything else to do with the convention, which wraps up tonight.
I apologize for the sparse posting today. I've had a site issue that requires my attention pretty much all day and evening.
I hope to be back at work as usual tomorrow.

Richard’s latest post shows how Fox cut away from Khan, a 9/11 supporter and Gen. John Allen… despite complaining about lack of talk about ISIS at the DNC.

That vile little cretin, Hannocchio’s longtime girlfriend, Annie Tweeted that Khizr Khan, the father of a Muslim-American soldier (Purple Heart recipient) who died in 2004 in the Iraq War, was “an angry Muslim with a thick accent like Fareed Zacaria.”
Hannocchio loves to attach himself to vile woman like Annie. No wonder he loves her so much.

FOX News went to commercial during Khan’s speech? The most powerful and moving non-politician speech at #DemsInPhilly? Unbelievable but I can imagine their producers in complete panic!
The good news is Fox’s ratings have cratered at #DemsInPhilly relative to them dominating #RNCinCLE. Their propaganda can’t wallpaper the truth this time.

By Monday or Tuesday we’ll see how big a bounce. The post mortem from conservative pundits so far is “How in the hell did Democrats steal our issues??!?”.

Can hardly wait to see how many other Fox nuts pull a Karl Rove tactic come Nov. For Fox to breakaway with a commercial during Khizr Khan’s speech just shows how pathetic these so-called patriots really are. On the bright side ~ history shall remember this speech ~ Fox’s comments….not so much.

I thought her speech was fantastic – she said exactly what needed to be said and she looked like she was enjoying every minute. Please stop comparing her oratory skills to anyone – she is her own person, and now the hard work begins.
I am extremely proud to be a Democrat and voting for this amazing, accomplished woman and ticket in November.
And to all the pundits who claim “it wasn’t enough” – I’m not sure what you were watching or what your “standards” are, but the fact that there’s all this nitpicking is exactly why I avoid cable news like the plague.

When the post-convention polls start tracking in, Hillary should get the bounce she wanted and needs.
The first debate will allow undecided voters the opportunity to compare Hillary and Long Dong Donald face-to-face. The policy wonk vs. the short-fingered twit. If that doesn’t seal the deal for Hillary, I booking a seat on Justice Ginsburg’s flight to New Zealand.

I didn’t stay up for Hillary’s address but all the post-shows agree that she did a great job apart from some half-hearted nitpicking by Trump supporters. The latent misogyny persists but that might be because I’m pretty touchy on that subject.
My favorite of the addresses I did hear was Bloomberg on day 3. He cut Trump into teeny-weeny bits and spit them out with devastating sarcasm. Almost seemed that he dared, double-dared Trump to sue.
I also liked that long series of 5 brief messages by all sorts of ordinary people who’d been impacted by Hillary. Each speech was very much to the point (i.e., without the sort of meandering that characterises the speeches of people unaccustomed to speaking in public). My compliments to the professionals who helped them sharpen their address without compromising the variability of message and tone. What could have become a boring sequence of buzzwords became a fascinating mosaic of testimonials that did more to “humanise” Hillary than anything else I heard. Very well done, indeed.

Well, NRP “Morning Edition” interviewed a Bernie dead-ender who stormed out after Hillary’s speech, went a across to FDR Park where she made a big demonstration of tearing up her delegate credentials. They’re labeling themselves the “DNC-exiters.” So original. Disturbing implications but I don’t expect they put much thought into the temporary branding or where they plan to go.
Start a movement. Hope yours goes better than the Reform Party whose bandwagon I briefly jumped on in the ’80s protesting another Clinton (and the other guy too). Lots of expectations there too.
While every vote counts in a tight race, losing the Bernie extremists might not be a bad thing. I don’t think this election is a time to hold a referendum on becoming Sweden. No offense to Sweden but they don’t have the burden of a crazy expensive DoD (which both parties are furiously waving the flag over) so even their high tax rates – which squarely falls upon just about everyone including the middle class, underclass, and apparently even the poor (and naturally their employers) – we’d have to go through structural change about as popular as Zika.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxation_in_Sweden
Write me off as a hopeless partisan (I’ve been alternately a solid Republican, Independent, and Democrat – though never registered – throughout my 57 years). But I can’t imagine people voting Trump over Hillary.
Though, while I’m anything but the wealthy each side is furiously and shamelessly demonizing (ironically both candidates are richer than a Powerball winner), I’m certainly doing better than the median family income. So, maybe that’s my disconnect.
However, the Trump supporters I know at work make as much as I do or more. And they’re married to working spouses and certainly are in the top 3rd percentile of family income in America. I don’t get their connection other than Donald’s bigoted call to end political correctness or keep who they view as undesirable out of America. How deep does America’s bigotry go?
I’m expecting Hillary’s negatives to lessen though she’ll always be hated and mistrusted by many. But #DemsInPhilly taught me things about her I didn’t know and it’s changed me for voting for Hillary as a vote against Trump into someone who has confidence in voting for Hillary for Hillary. No small thing.
Everything is telling me now Hillary should crush Trump. But I’ve been underestimating Trump all along like everyone else.

I thought Hillary nailed it. I saw a lot of criticism of her speech from Democrats on Fox (claiming it wasn’t enough) so I changed the channel to MSNBC and saw Chris Matthews making, basically, the same complaint.
Putting that aside, I was struck by how well done the convention was. There were so many moving, effective, impressive speakers and the whole thing went off beautifully despite the DNC and Bernie-supporter issues. Right down to the music
Compared to the steady stream of mishaps at the RNC, I think you’d have to call it a success by any definition.
I can almost see Donald Trump’s little fingers twitching as the pain of his thin skin, bruised ego and lack of attention gets harder and harder to bear.

Yay Hillary – all systems go for November. My one concern was that I heard very little about the need to complete the job by driving the R-Souls out of House and Senate. Imagine how cool it would be if this time next year the whole country was talking about Pres H and her ‘do-everything Congress’.
Doesn’t it make you feel all warm and cosy to be not just on the side of truth, justice and the (idealistic, optimistic) American way, but on the WINNING TEAM for a change!

ABC News is doing some minor dissing she’s no Obama or Bill Clinton as a speech-ifier but it’s the best I’ve ever heard her do.
I thought she did as well as Obama.
Bill? Well, his speech was storytelling in the vein of Mark Twain. Bill and Michelle were the best speeches of #DemsInPhilly. But Hillary isn’t that distant a 3rd.
She did what see needed to do. #DemsInPhilly was amazing and did what it needed to do. Pray for the bounce they deserve.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar introducing himself as Michael Jordan to fool The Donald because Trump couldn’t tell the difference is an instant classic.
