As The Murdoch Turns: The Week’s Newest News Corp. News
NEW NEWS HACKING NEWS: As News Hounds has been reporting, the Murdoch Empire is still in deep doo doo as revelations in the phone hacking scandal continue to roil both sides of the ocean. Now comes word that News Corp. investors are demanding the removal/firing/dismissal/sacking/ouster/elimination/giving the boot to Chief Operating Officer James Murdoch, son of Rupert and third in line at the beleaguered media conglomeration. According to The Guardian a shareholders’ group has delivered a letter to the Board of Directors which reads, in part, “We question James Murdoch's suitability as a senior executive and potential successor to Rupert Murdoch. As a senior executive at News International it is unclear why he did not initiate in-depth inquiries at an earlier stage and why former colleagues now directly and publicly contradict his stated position that he was unaware that hacking extended beyond [Clive] Goodman [the News of the World's former royal editor].” And, it won’t get any better for the board or shareholders: Parliament plans to recall James and Rupert Murdoch for further questioning, but this time plans to place them both under oath.

Hannity A Great American On Casey Anthony Verdict
Believe it or not, I applauded Sean Hannity throughout his entire show last night (7/5/11) – all devoted to the Casey Anthony verdict, like almost everything else on Fox News yesterday. I expected the kind of hammy outrage I saw from Bill O’Reilly and elsewhere on Fox News, an “It’s O.J. Simpson all over again” kind of response. Instead, Hannity stood up unequivocally and even eloquently for our legal system and its “innocent until proven guilty” standard. For that, I salute him.

Bernard Goldberg visited The O’Reilly Factor last night (7/5/11) to discuss – what else? The Casey Anthony verdict. Goldberg started out by blasting the jury for not having “a modicum of common sense” and convicting Anthony of some kind of homicide. But then, at about 4:48 into the segment, Bill O’Reilly brought up the “huge ratings” the trial garnered and asked, “What is the fascination?” Goldberg had a rather interesting answer.

Bill O’Reilly was not only outraged about all those “not guilty” verdicts in the Casey Anthony trial yesterday (7/5/11), he thinks the jury has some ‘splaining to do. Throughout The O’Reilly Factor last night, O’Reilly repeatedly announced his desire to discuss the verdict with the jurors and made clear his disgust that they have chosen not to talk to the press. As he said in one of the segments, “I want to talk to those people about this kind of stuff and I want them to explain why they let this woman go when there’s a two year-old dead, there’s no other explanation… and they convicted her of lying… about… where she was. Come on! …I’m just really, really troubled by this thing… I want to hear ‘em explain.”

The Fox News Tweet Du Jour – Judgenap Forgets Channel Slogan
Let’s hope that Fox “News” Senior Judicial Analyst Andrew P. Napolitano showed more fairness and balance as a Superior Court judge in New Jersey than he does on the air and in his tweets. Here he gives marching orders to teabaggers:
