Hannity Baselessly Suggests Federal Investigation Into Gov. Bill Richardson Was Dropped For Political Reasons
During last night’s (8/27/09) Hannity’s America segment, Sean Hannity suggested, without offering a scintilla of evidence, that the federal investigation into Gov. Bill Richardson (D-NM) was dropped because of his closeness to the Obama administration. In reality, the evidence points in the opposite direction, that the investigation was dropped because prosecutors concluded “an indictment was not warranted.” But not content to stop there, Hannity developed a sudden interest in the welfare of CIA agents and accused Attorney General Eric Holder of “targeting” the brave men and women of the CIA who risked their lives to keep this country safe.” Funny how Hannity never cared about the political targeting of CIA agent Valerie Plame by the Bush administration. More Comprehension Problems From Hannity: This Time, He Misunderstands The CIA Torture Report And Howard Dean’s Comments About Republicans
Along with Media Matters, we’ve been noting Sean Hannity’s major problems with reading comprehension lately. On last night’s Hannity (8/25/09), he misunderstood what the CIA’s report said about the effectiveness of Enhanced Interrogations Techniques and he misunderstood what Howard Dean said about Republicans opposing Obama’s health care reform. Fox News' Griff Jenkins joined in the incomprehension. He also misunderstood what Dean said and selectively cropped a town hall incident to misrepresent Rep. Jim Moran's handling of hecklers. With video.

Greta Van Susteren Distorts Panetta’s Words To Malign Him
Supposed Fox News liberal Greta Van Susteren misrepresented CIA Director Leon Panetta’s remarks about Dick Cheney in the opening headline of her discussion about it last night (6/15/09). In her introduction to an interview with Senator John McCain, Van Susteren said, “CIA Director Leon Panetta says former Vice President Dick Cheney wants America to be attacked. What provoked this statement?” In fact, Panetta did not say such a thing, as the actual quote that Van Susteren subsequently read proved. But not surprisingly, Van Susteren used it to goad McCain to attack the Obama administration. It was soon clear that Van Susteren must have known of McCain's stance against Panetta before the interview. It proved that her question was just a formality to give him a platform to demand that Panetta retract his statement. With video.

FOX News Gives Rove A Sympathetic Platform From Which To Discuss His Contempt Citation
Unless I missed something while I was traveling, Hannity & Colmes has completely ignored the Congressional subpoena issued to Karl Rove and his refusal to testify under oath. Last night (7/30/08), the issue was briefly addressed, not with a discussion or debate about the reasons Rove was subpoenaed nor the reasons he refused to testify but by Hannity asking him to share his thoughts. After providing his highly subjective and misleading view of the matter, the discussion moved on. Democrat Kirsten Powers, substituting for co-host Alan Colmes, stayed mum on the subject. With video.
