Neil Cavuto likened the White House to gangsters Thursday (2/28/13) for "threatening" Bob Woodward. He began by saying, “What I do know is that for the administration that has been terrifying us, well, the wheels have already come off.
Cavuto said:
The folks behind Mr. Cool acting a tad bit creepy. An e-mail from a guy named Sperling that I tell you will leave you hurling. White House economic advisor Gene Sperling clearly threatening one of the most celebrated journalists in Washington. Apparently because Bob Woodward wasn’t telling the administration line in Washington. Sperling blasting Woodward for reporting the President was changing the entire sequestration debate by essentially moving the goalpost and suddenly demanding revenues, i.e. taxes, when all sides had long ago agreed including the President, it’s only be about the size of the spending cuts.
Then, in a blatant effort to present an unbalanced picture of Sperling’s email, Cavuto said, “Now, I want you to focus on that portion of Sperling’s email to Woodward that gets really creepy.” Cavuto read, ‘I know you may not believe this, but as a friend, I think you will regret staking out that claim.’”
Funny how Cavuto left out Woodward's chummy reply that didn't sound the least bit threatened nor the ridicule he received from plenty of conservatives who thought the "threat" was bogus.
Instead, Cavuto mimicked ominous sound effects: “Dum, dum, dum.” He continued:
Was that Sperling pulling a Soprano?” He played a clip from the Sopranos, then asked, “Could you imagine if that were coming from a Bush White House official? Well quite rightly, the media would be all over it, and the guy writing it would be in prison for daring even thinking about it." But no one, no one is asking for Gene to just pack up. Maybe because they don’t want to risk this White House’s wrath.
...I’m not saying the president has to directly threaten folks himself. That’s gauche. He doesn’t have to. He has people to do that.
Even Bob Woodward has acknowledged he was not threatened in this way. What's Cavuto's excuse for pretending Woodward is wrong?

I think Bob’s just bucking for a permanent guest spot on Fox . . .
.
We likens News Corporation to the Sopranos with Ruthless Rupy and his boy James in the starring roles.
Hacking the phone of a murdered 13 year-old sounds like something the Sopranos would do, right Neily?
Bribing police officers is something the Sopranos would do, don’t you think Neily?
Buying off public officials is very similar to the Sopranos, yes or no, Neily?
Look how many News Corporation employees were arrested for criminal misconduct? Similar to the Sopranos, you would agree, Neily?
If Neily wants to bring up threats, he should look up News Corporation’s News International.
NOTE TO CAVUTO
Your employers are no saints themselves. Guilt by association.
That is not true; I never said I was threatened, the Post is putting words in my mouth. Here are the Emails and a transcript of the call to prove that it was just a couple of heated exchanges.
After he saw the numbers he got from violently far right people like Tea Partiers and Fox News viewers:
Yeah, it was like a scene from a Martin Scorsese movie! And this wasn’t the first time- I’m not producing evidence anymore, but this has been going on for years. Fuck you that I produced evidence that I’m lying, you can’t prove a thing!
