Andrew Breitbart may be dead but his race-baiting, hate mongering lives on. Last night, during a Hannity segment about Breitbart’s life and death, guest Stephen Bannon (the director of the flop The Undefeated) announced that Breitbart’s tapes of President Obama at Harvard will soon be released showing, as Breitbart recently said, “why racial division and class warfare are central to what hope and change was sold in 2008.”
I’ve got to think these are the same tapes Breitbart threatened to release a few years ago if President Obama didn’t do a thorough investigation of ACORN – you know, the community organization that has been exonerated in the wake of the thoroughly discredited videos Breitbart promoted.
Hannity said enthusiastically that Breitbart had said the tapes would “change this election.” If that’s the case, you’d think team Breitbart would wait to release them until the campaign was in full gear instead of smack dab in the middle of a contentious Republican primary.
Still, I wouldn’t dismiss the threat out of hand. Bannon promised to release them on the Hannity show. And if there’s one thing the host who palled around with a white supremacist loves – besides hating Obama – it’s playing the race card. Demonizing Obama as a black racist? It doesn’t get any better than that for Hannity.
More on this Hannity segment in my next post.
