Bill O’Reilly Has A New Conspiracy Theory About Sandra Fluke

Posted by Ellen -390.60pc on March 10, 2012 · Flag

Bill O’Reilly just can’t stop attacking Sandra Fluke. Fluke, as you probably know, exercised her American citizenship to testify before Congress on a subject she cared about – contraception coverage in health insurance – and the right has been going after her ever since. Rush Limbaugh’s shocking smears have cost him dearly in sponsors. But Fox News, which is largely ignoring the Limbaugh controversy, has gone after Fluke with its own smears, albeit less inflammatorily. So, for example, Bill O’Reilly implied Fluke is a slut instead of coming right out and saying so, as Limbaugh did. He followed that up with a convoluted conspiracy theory in which he “connected” Fluke to President Obama based on the fact that former Obama aide Anita Dunn works for the (large) PR company representing Fluke. Never mind that Dunn has already said she has nothing to do with Fluke’s account. Now, O’Reilly has some new information: Fluke’s boyfriend is the son of a “Democratic stalwart” who “has made at least 56 donations to many Democratic candidates or organizations.” Apparently, that’s proof enough that Fluke is some kind of Obama plant.

“There is more to Sandra’s story than just contraception,” O’Reilly said insinuatingly. “Right now she is on spring break, in California, with her boyfriend, who is the son of Democratic stalwart William Mutterperl. He has made at least 56 donations to many Democratic candidates or organizations. Nothing wrong with that. Just pointing it out.”

Riiight.

“The whole ObamaCare mandating contraception business is a huge canard,” O’Reilly said. Then he began the Fluke smearing. “Ms. Fluke can afford to go on vacation… she can dress very well, she gets all over the place, but she doesn’t have $9 a month for (birth control) pills?”

For all we – and O’Reilly – know, Fluke could dress well from a thrift shop, have a rich boyfriend and sleep on a cot at a friend’s house when she goes on vacation. But more to the point, Fluke never said she couldn’t afford $9 a month for birth control pills. She was talking about the importance of the insurance coverage for women, in general. If O’Reilly actually saw or read Fluke’s testimony, he’d know that.

O’Reilly continued, “When the Catholic bishops challenged the nanny state on moral grounds, the White House got nervous and the women’s health play began to ramp up. Of course, that’s when Sandra Fluke suddenly appeared, popping up at Congressional hearings, showing up in the media. Polls show President Obama’s poll numbers among women – now on the rise and he has Ms. Fluke to thank for that. If you don’t play close attention to this story, it looks like President Obama is simply helping out a young woman under siege. But again, that’s not what’s going on here.”

OK, so what is going on here? O’Reilly never said! He switched gears to accuse Democrats (and Fluke) of supporting a nanny state and Republicans opposing it.

What O’Reilly also never said is that Fluke is a past-president of Georgetown Law Students for Reproductive Justice. In other words, she has a history of advocating for and being familiar with these kinds of issues. But with a hint of a suggestion here, a few whiffs of personal attacks there, Glenn Beck – I mean, Bill O’Reilly, wants us to think she’s some Obama zombie based on the fact that a former Obama aide works at a company representing her and her boyfriend is the son of a “Democratic stalwart.”

This is what passes for “fair and balanced” on Fox News.

So I guess if you can afford nice clothes and a vacation you don’t need $9.00 a month from the government for contraception. That must mean that millionaires like Bill O’Reilly don’t need those Bush era tax cuts anymore since they can afford nice clothes and can go on vacations.

$9 a month, Bill? Really? So if I get diagnosed with a cyst, all I need is $9 for some Trinessa? I mean, Fox News/Rush apologists seem to think it’s the only contraceptive pill out there, so let’s run with it.

Seriously- it is the ONLY contraceptive pill they bring up, other that Tricylen (what it’s a generic of). I gave up trying to even tell them that it’s not the only one out there. So for this argument, let’s pretend that the only birth control is Tricylen.

Let’s say that this is a serious enough problem I would need a script for Tricylen Lo. Lets see what that runs:

Wow, $94 a pack? I guess I should have just kept my legs shut, huh bill? Because irregular menstration, body fat issues, menstration issues, family history, Hormones and Tamoxifen treatments for breast cancer play no role in causing them, do they?

Idiot.

! Yakki PSD- I’m not sure you need to add the qualifier "critical"to thinking for most of the Fux noise drooling zombies. I’m of the opinion that any cognitive activity is beyond their capability, and that they are best represented by William James definition of the process,[Thinking is] what a great many people think they are doing when they are merely rearranging their prejudices.

He is just a bully.
No wonder his wife left him.
And divorce is a no no in the Catholic church.
Poor Bill. So he can yell about contraceptive coverage, but he will not talk about divorce.
What a hypocrite!

Bildo’s continuing smears against Ms. Fluke confirm once again that he is sexist bully.

Well, since BOR knows she’s out in CA on vacation, I suggest Ms. Fluke keep her eye out for BOR’s toadie, Watters (because, as we know from what happened to Amanda Terkel, BOR isn’t above having his targets stalked even if they are on vacation). Add to the mix that BOR is mightly pissed because Fluke won’t come on his show for a discussion of why she thinks she’s “entitled” to “free” birth control and I’d say that an ambush could be pending.

Btw, I’m a Dem stalwart, I’m in a relationship with another Dem stalwart whose family has some connections with the Kennedys and we’ve both donated to Dem causes. Hmm, perhaps I’m an Obama plant too!
-—————

From CNN’s Martin Bashir regarding the conspiracy theory that the Obama WH deliberately put Fluke up to all of this. Not only does his commentary apply to Bolling but it should apply to BOR too.

BASHIR: We’re now being told that Rush Limbaugh’s appalling attacks on a Georgetown student were actually part of a mesmerizing and devilish strategy planned and orchestrated by yes, you guessed it, the White House. (begin clip)

BOLLING: President Obama, on the ropes on the economy and specifically with women voters gets Mrs. Fluke to create a controversy and the liberal mainstream media puppets play along as scripted. (end clip)

BASHIR: So, according to that individual, Sandra Fluke at the request of the President manufactured a controversy which included Darrell Issa’s Congressional committee and Rush Limbaugh’s comments. And this was done so that journalists would report on her instead of focusing on the economy.

Dear POS borally,

NO MEANS NO! Sandra Fluke isn’t going to go on your ALL SPIN FACTOR just so you can attack her, bully her, cut off her mic and then crucify her with your next guest (probably un-funny dennis miller), once she’s off the set. You know, your usual schtick. Get over yourself! You’re making yourself look like a begging, pathetic little fool who just can’t get the girl to pay attention to you. It’s time you faced the fact that you’re very irrelevant.

Sincerely,
Not one of your mindless sheep

In my opinion, the real horror of what Billo is doing is to PUNISH this woman for having the gall to stand up. The wrath of Fox has been called down upon not only her, but also her boyfriend and her boyfriends family. 56 donations to the Democratic Party? (Interestingly, no total $$$ amount of those donations was given, eh?)
These people are being pointed to by name and geographical location just because of their choice of a political party. Stop by Fox Nation and do a little reading. How long will it be before one of the unwashed, unbalanced and unstable feels the calling from Gawd to take some REAL action?
It’s Tiller all over again. Billo is using the power of the ‘press’ to destroy lives and put innocent people at risk…..largely just because he can. This is an organization that is out of control with power….it must be stopped.

Stanley : astute ,sir. And as far as the belief that she was some sort of plant,I posit that critical thinking is not the general Fox viewer’s strength. They will believe in this ‘theory’ because it was espoused on air. It won’t take anything more.

Sandra Fluke can easily shutdown Billy by mentioning Andrea Mackris. Watch Billy clam up quickly.

It’s ironic that Georgetown University, a Catholic University, where Sandra Fluke is enrolled, mandates students have health care insurance. It costs $1800 in fall semester and about $1200 in spring. Students (or their parents) pay the premiums. The University has arranged with United HealthCare to provide the plans.
So, when Obamacare goes into full effect, its mandate that everyone buy insurance will not change anything for the students at GU. They may still have to deal with United HealthCare. The mandate will just come from the law rather than GU. And the mandate is necessary to provide a large pool of insured who have diverse claims (sometimes in any year none at all), all unpredictable in individual cases, but predictable for the pool. So, with a large enough pool, premiums can be quite low, because only a smaller number of those insured will have large claims, the costs for which will be shared across thousands.

When you set a trap, you do so in a manner that the typical behavior of the prey will make it it fall into it. While there is a slightly plausible case you might make that Minority Leader Polosi may have brought her in to testify before the GOP dominated Congressional Committee, in anticipation that she might be refused giving her testimony. That would mildly embarass a few GOP men. But I really doubt that in their wildest dreams, they expected Ms. Fluke was going to be called a slut and prostitute because she wanted contraceptive coverage, hence wanted pay for sex, hence a slut and prostitute, by Rush Limbaugh.
But whether it was planned or not (I doubt it was planned) Limbaugh went for the bait, and in his typical way of ignoring facts proceeded, not to subtly use innuendo against her, but openly call her a slut and prostitute for wanting to be paid to have sex.
So, O’Reilly’s conspiracy theory that Ms. Flukes was a plant by the administration to divert attention from the (erroneous) “fact” that Obamacare was intruding on the Catholic Church’s First Amendment Rights (it doesn’t
since they won’t have to pay for contraceptives; either
the policy-holders will do so, or even the insurance company), is just shere paranoid Glen-Beckian conspiracy theory. Ms Flukes, BTW didn’t ask for contraceptive coverage for herself, but wanted coverage for a student friend who had been denied the coverage for the medications in contraceptives, to treat a serious female medical condition by the GU student health care policy. The point was that contraceptive hormones are often used to treat women’s medical conditions having nothing to do with birth control.
