Only because I grew up in a more Poltically Corrupt City than Chicago or Washington D.C. in up State New York and having a Grandfather as a Ward heeler who embarrassed the family with his dirty deeds against the opposition. If by some strange twist of logic, Obama does release them, then Trump will crow about how proud he is of himself that only he could make him do it. If Obama doesn’t release records, then Trump will crow about how he just proved Obama’s records are fake and that he doesn’t love charities because he wasn’t willing to release records to get them $5M. But in the end, it’s probably correct that “to my satisfaction” means “I’m not paying either way sucker!”.

The whole point that gas prices are not under the control of the POTUS is totally lost on most both when Bush had $4 gas and now that Obama has close to the same. Gas prices dropped to under $1.80/gal between Jul08 and Jan09 due to global recession and reduction in global demand. Gas and oil are commodities traded on global markets US gas prices track pretty much identical to other world markets.

Obama has a super-majority for about 26 weeks in total, not two years like the Right likes to claim. There were I believe 7 weeks between the time Franken was confirmed and Ted Kennedy fell ill and couldn’t vote and then 19 weeks under Kirk after Kennedy died before Scott Brown assumed Kennedy’s seat.
