As millions of Americans suffer from budget cuts, sequestration and unemployment, Fox's most important issue is promoting the House GOP Benghazi witch hunt hearing. Never mind that the matter has already been investigated. But for Heaven's sake, this isn't the Iraq war, where we invaded a country on false pretenses. Nor is it 9/11 where a sitting president somehow missed a warning of an imminent Al Qaeda attack. No, this is a firefight overseas that might be useful in derailing Hillary Clinton's future presidential candidacy and in Barack Obama's current one. Let's hope the Dems are coming with their A game to shoot this crap down once and for all. Video c/o CBS News.

In contrast, when Pacifica Radio covered the Iran Contra hearings back in 1987, they covered everything, not cutting off any questioner, regardless of party. The testimony was presented without interruption, after which commenters and callers would discuss what the various witnesses had said. That’s the very definition of fair and balanced, only it was happening on the left.
The reality is that unless someone in this hearing has some kind of evidence that President Obama or Secretary Clinton was deliberately negligent, then there’s nothing new here. We’re looking at a discussion about whether paragraph 25b (i)(a)(3) applies in this or that circumstance, and whether someone’s hypothetical alternative scenario would have played out differently. Meaning this is a policy argument, and an example of nitpicking way after the fact. If we’re going to do that, then Fox News can explain why it never covered such attacks during the Bush presidency.
