Donald Trump is delighted that “I didn’t write the debate questions” Roger Ailes has promised Fox will treat him fairly. Is this the start of a new Trump/Fox News romance?
As I previously posted, Donald Trump has been throwing temper tantrums over getting extra-tough scrutiny in Fox’s Republican primary debate last week, especially from Megyn Kelly. This, when Trump was accustomed to being fawned over by Fox.
So what is Fox chief Roger Ailes doing about this tiff between his pal and his network?
As I posted yesterday, Ailes has distanced himself from the debate questions. And if Trump is to be believed, Ailes may be planning to make it up to Mr. Sore Ego. This morning, Trump tweeted that "great guy" Ailes promised he “will be treated fairly” on Fox News:
Also this morning, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough tried to get Trump to reveal what Ailes may have promised:
SCARBOROUGH: Obviously, it’s not in Fox News’s best interests to be in a war with you; it’s not in your best interests to be in a war with Fox News. Have you talked to Roger over the weekend? Have you talked to anybody at Fox News over the weekend about trying to find common ground with the network?”
TRUMP: Well, I don’t want to say that, but I will tell you that I don’t think Fox treats me well.
SCARBOROUGH: Hold on a second. You’re a straight shooter, baby. Come on. Help us out.
TRUMP: No, I don’t want to say. Why should I say it? I don’t want to embarrass anybody. My whole life has been led on the theory that I do not want to embarrass people.
Doesn’t want to embarrass people? Was it out of sensitivity that Trump gave out Senator Lindsey Graham’s cell phone number and deliberately slut shamed Kelly?
But “presidential” Trump can’t take even a smidgen of what he gives out. “The fact is that I think I don’t get treated well by Fox and that’s alright because look what happens. …I have double-digit leads in every poll," he told Scarborough. So what has Ailes promised and how will he deliver it to his favorite birther? Fox’s Steve Doocy has tweeted that Trump will discuss “his relationship with Fox” tomorrow morning on Fox & Friends.
Stay tuned!

Speaking of polls of a sorts, the GOP debate ratings went through the roof! Fox News is famous for jerking off in public to their ratings so it’s no surprise GOP TV has been taking credit over their journalistic greatness. However, someone pointed out the GOP debate ratings and Trump’s TV show at its heights had similar ratings. Hmmm… maybe eyeballs aren’t glued to the TVs to watch the other 16 clowns or because the nation has suddenly gone for a swoon over Republicans.
Obviously ratings are money. However, I think the bigger deal for Roger Ailes is drawing attention to the Republican candidates. Oddly, he thinks more mainstream eyeballs watching the Republican candidates during the primary run is a good thing. Why, imho, that might blow up in Roger’s face is because we all know candidates – both Republican and Democrat – have to migrate to the extremes to appease the base that comprises the majority of primary voters. Does Roger really want anyone but the droolers watching even alleged moderate Jeb! masturbating his conservative credentials in public crowing over Social Darwinism such as gutting Medicare and Social Security? I don’t think so. You want the eyeballs for the main post-primary event when the Republican and Democrat picks will move to the middle to woo the rest of America for the big push to victory.
Anyway, Fox News attempted ‘assassination’ of Trump at the GOP debate backfired. Roger and his team completely underestimated the depth of the anger and stupidity of the many Archie Bunkers comprising the Republican base. Roger is going to have to find another way to crown the king (or queen) who I assume isn’t King Donald The First.
Trumpster’s constant bashing of Fox “News” Channel on Twitter was damaging the brand, and Nixon Trainee Ailes’ reputation. The Trainee would freak if Fox “News” started losing its audience. To see the network to drop to number two or three would put Ailes in the hospital.
So, Ailes waves the white flag of surrender to Trumpster in an effort to spare further damage to the Foxies.
Coming down the pipeline
1. Fox “News” is thrown into another controversy
2. Internal war at the Workplace Bully headquarters
3. The GOP’s headmaster is losing his mind
