I wrote a cautious note last night as an outsider looking in. I fear that nothing will change and the killing will continue, or that if change is attempted the killing will get worse. I hope your country proves me wrong: http://behindthehedge.wordpress.com/2012/12/14/a-hesitant-note-to-my-u-s-neighbours-on-a-tragic-day/
Romney can’t play the Birther card since his (Romeny’s) own Mexican-born father ran for the GOP Presidential nomination (losing to Nixon), bragging publicly about being born in “Old Mexico”. The Birther issue was decided in ’68 when the GOP let Romney Senior (señor Romney?) run for the nomination.
“their” women? Are women property/possessions? Or are they free human beings? This use of the language of ownership needs to be called out.
Randy Newman is a little wrong with his “no other Western industrialized nation wouldâve elected a black president” bit. From 2005-2010 we in Canada had a black, foreign-born woman as our de facto Head of State (the structural equivalent of a “President”, which we don’t have in our system): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micha%C3%ABlle_Jean
As I’ve mentioned before, George Romney, Mitt Romney’s father, despite being a naturally born Mexican, was allowed to run for the GOP Presidential nomination in 1968. Mitt Romney knows full well that he can’t start throwing Birther stones since his own family’s house is made of glass.
Ha ha ha! I’ve never been able to understand how your country was able to canonize the President who took your country from being the world’s #1 creditor to the world’s #1 debtor.
I wish for the sake of your country and people you had a leader who publicly talked about his/her devotion to Steinbeck rather than Ayn Rand: http://behindthehedge.wordpress.com/2012/08/15/the-vintage-is-still-be-trampled-out-why-the-grapes-of-wrath-not-atlas-shrugged-must-be-the-guidebook-for-our-time/

‘Thatâs what Jesus would say: pay to the laborer what his worth is.’
That’s what Adam Smith would say, too, Bill:
" Is this improvement in the circumstances of the lower ranks of the people to be regarded as an advantage or as an inconveniency to the society? The answer seems at first sight abundantly plain. Servants, labourers, and workmen of different kinds, make up the far greater part of every great political society. But what improves the circumstances of the greater part can never be regarded as an inconveniency to the whole. No society can surely be flourishing and happy, of which the far greater part of the members are poor and miserable. It is but equity, besides, that they who feed, clothe, and lodge the whole body of the people, should have such a share of the produce of their own labour as to be themselves tolerably well fed, clothed, and lodged."
Wealth of Nations, Book I, chapter 8

And the Fox Nationeers still don’t realize that Mitt Romney’s father was born in Mexico and Mexican Romney the elder ran for the GOP presidential nomination without any screaming Birthers on the scene.
Mitt Romney’s father ran against Richard Nixon for the GOP presidential nomination for the 1968 election. Mitt Romney’s father was born in Mexico. The birther debate was resolved four decades ago because of Mitt Romney’s Mexican born father and it was decided that no matter where a person is born, if that person had one U.S.American parent, that person is a “natural born citizen” for constitutional presidential purposes.
This “debate” isn’t about where Pres. Obama was born. It’s about the colour of his skin.
Now, can some of you Democrats start talking about “Natural Born Romney ’68”?

Obama should have quoted the great English poet John Donne: “No man is an island, Dumbass!”
Anyone who pretends to not understand what the President said is either hopelessly ignorant or obscenely arrogant or both.
