Fox News Says ACORN Is Behind Occupy Wall Street Movement

FoxNews.com has an "exclusive" story, based on anonymous sources, alleging that ACORN, that community organization for poor people that Fox just can't vilify enough is a puppetmaster behind the Occupy Wall Street movement. The "fair and balanced" network's accusations of wrong-doing seem to be unverified and are strangely reminiscent of the phony accusations that an ACORN worker had killed her husband, or that ACORN workers had committed voter fraud, for example. Fox News And The Outfoxed Effect: Seven Years Later

As one of the researchers for Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch’s War on Journalism, I’m proud of the impact the film has had on the public’s perception of Fox News. Before Outfoxed, few people paid much attention to what the network was up to. Now, it’s a regular topic of political conversation and even mockery by The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. Other than from a Fox News employee, when was the last time you heard someone arguing that the network doesn’t have a conservative/Republican bias? I think we can thank Outfoxed for exploding that "fair and balanced" myth to smithereens. And yet, while we can call that particular mission “accomplished,” there is still plenty more work to be done. I hope you'll join Outfoxed's producer/director Robert Greenwald tonight at 8 PM ET as he holds an online discussion about the seventh anniversary of Outfoxed. There will be special commentary from a variety of people including myself.

Has The Five’s Greg Gutfeld Been Infected By The Gay Agenda?

Props where they are due. After yesterday’s (and previous) rips of Greg Gutfeld, it’s only fair to mention the one time (so far) that Gutfeld was actually decent, and not the smug and unfunny frat boy he usually plays on television. Nominally, the argument (and that’s all it ever is on that show: one big, long, never-ending, interminable, non-stop argument) was a Tanteros device to give Michele Bachmann some patented Fox News cover for her husband’s whackadoodlePray Away The Gay” therapy clinic. Tantaros is shocked—shocked, I tells ya!!!—that someone might take a hidden camera undercover to embarrass the candidate’s spouse and, therefore, the candidate herself (like Michele Bachmann needs anyone’s help in that area). The Fox News chyron read 2012 SPOUSES: FAIR GAME? As Tanteros intoned portentously, “This is what the left is doing now. It is trying to take this jobs economy [campaign issue] and turn it into an issue about Gay Marriage.”

Fox & Friends Newest Lie: ACORN Getting Federal Funds

The group ACORN was loathed by the GOP right. Because it consisted of and advocated for minority groups, particularly voter registration, it represented the "scary, black man." As ACORN also organized for President Obama, the "scary, black man"-in-chief, they were frequently accused of "voter fraud" - an allegation not substantiated by the facts. As such, it was targeted by video slime merchant James O'Keefe, whose sting videos took pride of place on Fox News. He and his videos, which might have broken state laws, were subsequently discredited and ACORN was exonerated of any wrong doing. After having been defunded by Congress, it subsequently filed for bankruptcy, but right wingers fear that those scary dark people are still lurking out there. Thus, a right wing rumor, thanks to the right wing Scaife funded site Judicial Watch, has surfaced which claims that ACORN members are getting secret monies from a DOJ grant to the Afforadable Housing Centers of America. It's not true but who cares when that "scary, black man" card can be dealt from the deck of right wing propaganda. Not surprisingly, Fox News, the mouthpiece for the right wing, has picked up on this newest lie. Not suprisingly, Fox & Friends, "the morning happy-talk show that Ailes uses as one of his primary vehicles to inject his venom into the media bloodstream" is promoting it on his morning propaganda machine that still works on week-ends.

To Fox News Andrew Breitbart Is An Expert On Anything And Everything

Andrew Breitbart. Those two words result in derisive laughter from real journalists when combined with the word “journalist.” His thoroughly discredited ACORN/Sherrod/NPR scoops have made him the laughingstock of anyone who requires accountability and truth in journalism. In point of fact, when discussing Andrew Breitbart it’s hard not to use the words the words “journalist” or “journalism” because he’s such an affront to the concept that it’s only natural to begin discussing “journalistic ethics.” Which is why it is so very perfect that Fox “News”—a channel not known for its journalistic ethics either—would turn to Andrew Breitbart—yes, that Andrew Breitbart—to appear on Fox & Friends Weekend to discuss both gender bias in the media and the Constitution of the United States of America.
