"Fair & Balanced" Fox Nation Runs Article From Anti-Abortion Website

According to its "statement of purpose," Fox Nation is "committed to the core principles of tolerance, open debate, civil discourse, and fair and balanced coverage of the news." Yet, they have an article, from the rabidly anti-choice website "Life News," which touts the awesomeness of the closure of several Texas Planned Parenthood as a "victory" for women. The thread is illustrated with the perfunctory anti-choice icon of the thumb sucking fetus. If Fox were "fair & balanced," they would have an article about how these closures are very detrimental to low income women who use these facilities for their gynecological health. They could run the article from RH Reality Check which discusses how Texas alternatives to Planned Parenthood don't really exist. But they don't and I'm not holding my breath waiting for one. So does this mean that Fox Nation isn't "fair & balanced?" Oh, nooooooo.....

Megyn Kelly & Mike Huckabee Play Defense For Mitt Romney On "Personhood"

As I previously reported, the Democrats are highlighting Mitt Romney's embrace of radical anti-choice "personhood" amendments as illustrative of his flip flop on the abortion issue. On Friday, Fox's Megyn Kelly told Rick Santorum that she just doesn't understand why the Democrats would want to "inject" abortion into the election. (Why indeed?) Earlier, on "America Live," she spoke about the same issue with Mike Huckabee, whose Fox News show provided a national platform for Mitt Romney to proclaim his belief that life begins at conception and that he would support amendments supporting this belief - a belief that Romney did not have when he was governor of Massachusetts. But worry not, Mike Huckabee said that even the sainted Ronald Reagan changed his mind about stuff so it's all good.

Megyn Kelly Thinks Romney Support For "Personhood" Is No Big Deal?

While the GOP was fond of painting Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry of being a flip flopper, the Democrats are now able to do the same with GOP presidential primary candidate Mitt Romney, many of whose positions have changed over the years. He seems to have gone 180 degrees on a woman's right to an abortion. Back when he was governor of Massachusetts he said, "Let me make this very clear: I will preserve and protect a woman's right to choose." Flash forward to 2011 and Mitt Romney is supporting "personhood" amendments (life begins at conception) to state laws. The progressive (just kidding) state of Mississippi will be voting on such a radical anti-choice law on Tuesday. Democrats are, quite correctly, pointing out his change of position. In a new ad, the DNC has video of Romney, on Mike Huckabee's show, saying that, as MA governor, he would have "absolutely" signed an amendment defining life as beginning at conception. This is spliced into comments from those opposed to the radical MS "personhood" amendment. So pretty straightforward. But Fox News' Megyn Kelly doesn't understand why the Democrats are so upset. And neither does GOP presidential primary candidate Rick Santorum whose chat with Megyn Kelly, during Friday's "America Live," was just one happy GOP love fest.

Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity Shows Will Air Anti-Choice "Heartbeat Bill" Ad

I know that TV ads are all about the "Benjamins" and don't, necessarily, reflect the ideology of the shows. I've seen ads for Fox during MSNBC shows. But I do find it interesting that Ohio Pro-Life Action will be running 30 second spots during the Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity shows. The ads urge the viewers to contact their Ohio legislators in order to urge them to pass the anti-choice Ohio "heartbeat bill" which would make abortion illegal once a fetal heartbeat is detected which is about four weeks into a pregnancy. Again, ad time and space are, primarily, based on revenue. But as the "church lady" would say, "isn't it special" that the ads are going to be only on two shows whose hosts have a distinct anti-choice view. Is Fox doing a little "community organizing?"

Bill O'Reilly's Pro-Life Pal, Phil Kline, Could Have Law License Suspended

Back in February, Bill O'Reilly and Megyn Kelly were outraged about how a KA disciplinary panel was investigating whether form KA Attorney General, Phil Kline committed professional misconduct in his crusade against the murdered abortion doctor George Tiller. Kline was assisted in his crusade against Tiller by Bill O'Reilly whose personal crusade (or is it jihad?) against Tiller contributed to a climate of hate in which Tiller was assassinated by one of O'Reilly's fellow Christian pro-lifers. Bill, who "fights for the rights of the unborn" (women who have abortions and those who support them, like columnist Joan Walsh, not so much), was subsequently presented with a "Courage Award," from the Christian hate group "Family Research Council, for his ongoing attacks on Tiller whom O'Reilly referred to as a "baby killer." Yesterday, the KA disciplinary panel recommended that Kline have his law license suspended indefinitely for the "selfish and dishonest way" with which he obsessively pursued abortion clinics. It was found that this "dishonest conduct" caused "potential injury to the public." We know that at least one man was fatally injured by the hatred stirred up by Kline who was validated in this "dishonest conduct" by the "fair & balanced" O'Reilly who is mentioned in the report.
