Greta Van Susteren’s Hypocritical Outrage Over Politico Asking If Rick Perry Is Dumb

Less than two weeks after Greta Van Susteren dismissed as “Texas swagger” Republican Rick Perry’s attacks on Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke – calling him “almost treasonous” and saying he’d be treated “pretty ugly” in Texas - Van Susteren was in a snit over Politico’s “name calling” in an article headlined Is Rick Perry Dumb? Considering the name calling that goes on 24/7 on Fox, much of it right on her own show, Van Susteren’s indignation was laughable. The difference, of course, is that on Fox, Democrats and liberals are called names whereas Politico had the audacity to do it to the Republican presidential candidate Fox is rooting for.

Van Susteren Talks To Gingrich About His “Lousy Way To Run A Campaign”

I’ve written before about Fox News not being terribly excited about Newt Gingrich’s presidential campaign. Maybe that’s what gave Greta Van Susteren the temerity to give Newt Gingrich a talking to about his poor handling of the media. But you could almost hear the “it’s for your own good” in her voice as she did so. Also, she all but bent over backwards to give Gingrich opportunities to acquit himself of charges about the disruptive role of his wife in the campaign and reports that his charitable organization came “dangerously close” to being used as a vehicle to promote his politics. Instead, Gingrich repeatedly obfuscated, bobbed and weaved. It’s no wonder Van Susteren lost patience near the end of the nearly 17-minute interview.

Isn't It Time Sen. Bernie Sanders Was On One Of The Sunday Shows Again?

Our friends at Brave New Films have a new action - working to get Sen. Bernie Sanders booked on the Sunday talk shows. Producer Robert Greenwald notes that while Sanders' last appearance on one of the Sunday morning shows was last year, Sen. John McCain has already appeared 10 times, Sen. Lindsey Graham six times and Sen. Joe Lieberman five times this year.

Bachmann Backs Off From Birtherism. Will Fox News? Follow?

Michele Bachmann appeared on Good Morning America this morning where host George Stephanopoulos showed her the evidence that “Judge” Jeanine Pirro and Sean Hannity never manage to find: President Obama’s birth certificate certified by the State of Hawaii, with a seal, and authenticated by FactCheck.org (PolitiFact made a similar investigation and came to the same conclusion). When confronted with the evidence this morning, Bachmann agreed that “should settle it” and “I guess it’s over.” Will Fox News follow her lead? And how firm was her declaration anyway?

O’Reilly Loses It As Alan Colmes Stands Up To His “The Left Is Anti-American” Rhetoric On Fox News

Bill O’Reilly and Monica Crowley were in fine patriotic form last night (2/1/11) as they “proved” conclusively how much they love America by dishing out a segment full of hate and scorn toward their fellow Americans. The targets this time were Sam Donaldson, who had the nerve to praise Al Jazeera for its coverage of the Egypt uprising, and “the far left,” because – well, just because. Bravo to Alan Colmes for clearly and unequivocally pushing back and telling his sister-in-law Crowley that calling the left “anti-American” was “disgusting” and “sickening.” Shortly thereafter, O’Reilly blew his top.
