Thanks to good diplomacy, 10 U.S. sailors were released by Iran after a brief detention. But instead of cheering the sailors’ safe return, “Great American” Sean Hannity complained that Obama didn’t threaten to kick some a** and perhaps wreak some more death and destruction.
On his radio show today, Hannity seemed to think that the taking of the Americans was all the grounds he needed to start that war with Iran he’s been salivating for.
HANNITY: I don't know if you've seen the new video of the Iranians taking Americans hostage, and covering this female sailor's head, the way they did. And like, handcuffing them, hands behind their back, and everything else that they did. You know, the president, this is still ongoing, doesn't even mention it. John Kerry apparently thanked the Iranians. "Oh thank you so much for releasing our sailors, oh we're so sorry they went into your territory!"
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) actually nailed this. …It's humiliating for Obama, who doesn't even mention it during the State of the Union. Then you have stupid remarks by people like Rep. Nancy Pelosi crediting the Iranian deal for the sailors’ release. I'm like, "where do you get this kind of logic? Where does this come from?" You know, I don't think the Iranians would do this - we have 10 U.S. sailors detained for hours and hours on Friday, I'm sorry on yesterday, last night. Who are the Iranians to take our sailors hostage and to cover a female sailor's head and to treat them the way they did, like they're criminals?
Anyway so they finally returned, I guess at some point at eight this morning they finally were released and the sailors were later transferred ashore on a U.S. Navy aircraft and instead of kissing their asses the way Obama and John Kerry do, why didn't they just send the message, you either let those people out in the next three hours or we're going to bomb the living crap out of you.
Notice anything missing from this rant? Like gladness and relief that our sailors were released unharmed? Where’s that love for our men and women in uniform that Hannity flaunts when it's convenient?
I’ll tell you where it is, subsumed by Hannity's lust for war with Iran. From a guy who never spent one minute putting his own flabby fanny on the line for this country.
Meanwhile, the Great Chickenhawk attacked the Obama administration’s diplomacy – as if safe and sound sailors were some kind of bad outcome.
Hannity should be ashamed of himself.

What exactly did the Ayatollah receive…aside from a cake shaped like a key and a bible?
August 20, 1985 – 96 TOW anti-tank missiles
• September 14, 1985 – 408 more TOWs
• November 24, 1985 – 18 Hawk anti-aircraft missiles
• February 17, 1986 – 500 TOWs
• February 27, 1986 – 500 TOWs
• May 24, 1986 – 508 TOWs, 240 Hawk spare parts
• August 4, 1986 – More Hawk spares
• October 28, 1986 – 500 TOW
• Hmmmm….I wonder how many of these were used against us or our allies? What’s the matter conservatives? Cat’s got your tongue? Not that page you say. Flash back to October 23, 1983 when Islamic terrorists drove a truck bomb on to our military base in Lebanon.
The death toll was 241 American servicemen: 220 Marines, 18 sailors, and three soldiers, making this incident the deadliest single-day death toll for the United States Marine Corps since World War II’s Battle of Iwo Jima, the deadliest single-day death toll for the United States military since the first day of the Vietnam War’s Tet Offensive, and the deadliest single attack on Americans overseas since World War II.
What was Mr. Bedtime for Bonzo’s response? Did he immediately call for action bring the terrorists to justice? No, I’m sorry to say that Reagan withdrew our forces and ran home crying like a little schoolgirl!
Okay, I KNOW what page you must be referring to. You must mean the 1983 U.S. invasion of Grenada……the teeny tiny Caribbean Island, Now THAT Saint Ronald could handle!
If ANY Democrat President had done ANY of those things, right-wingers would be howling for immediate impeachment. When old Ronnie does ALL of the above he is praise for his “leadership”!
Careful what you wish for Sean, it might come true.
I don’t recall The Judge being upset over extra Constitutional Gitmo violating the Geneva Convention but unsurprisingly he had kittens over Iran doing so by making a female soldier wear a headscarf, video taping our sailors, and allegedly forcing an apology. If an Iranian boat ran aground in America. Well, you know… Apocalypse! 👍
Rudy showed up to add to the outrage. Kerry should be fired… well… just because maybe Obama. 😉
It’s all typical teams sports punditry revolving around the fact Republicans are still mad they lost the Iran nike treaty fight. Plus Obama is president still.
Sean just needs some trigger time. But it’s not too late! There is a brave band of brothers in the far western wilderness of Oregon making a final desperate stand. Sean should pack some warm socks and plenty of snacks and live the dream!
…but he shouldn’t bring along any dildos. They’re kind of touchy about that.

Things got much stranger during a discussion with Laura Ingraham and Geraldo Rivera. Rivera actually made one good point in there – Hannity didn’t do a “rebuttal” to a George W. Bush SOTU ever. It was only when President Obama was delivering them that Hannity found it appropriate to tear them apart. Had anyone done that to W. Bush, Hannity would have accused them of treason.
Of course, Hannity does now seize on an economic number that really does mean something. He’s correct when he notes that the unemployment figures don’t include the many people who have been out of work too long to be counted within that statistic and/or have given up looking for a new job. Hannity is right to note that if you counted these people in the full unemployment number, the figure would rise sharply. But he’s forgetting that people on the left cited this number throughout the W. Bush presidency, when Hannity was trying to talk UP the economy rather than talk it down. Hannity wouldn’t hear of such discussion until Barack Obama became President. At that point, this number became very important to him.
Rivera asked when Hannity gave one of these kinds of rebuttals to George W. Bush, and Hannity tried to bully away the question. Ingraham then jumped in on Hannity’s side and tried to dismiss Rivera’s objection. And she made a statement that Hannity had roundly criticized Bush’s handling of the economy when things weren’t going so well. The only problem with her statement is that IT’S A LIE. As thankfully documented here, Sean Hannity actually went way overboard trying to deny there were any economic problems, all the way through the 2008 electoral cycle – even to the point of trying to bully Robert Kuttner off the air.
