Great American” Sean Hannity couldn’t have sounded more delighted as he announced last night that the latest Fox News polls are “devastating” for President Obama. “Bring back the cowboy from Texas,” Hannity added. Maybe that’s because George W. Bush looked Vladimir Putin in the eye and knew in an instant what a great guy he is.
As Eric Boehlert wrote a few days ago on Media Matters, Russia’s President Putin has suddenly become a right-wing hero. So what if he’s a former KGB spy and a Stalin apologist? He’s an Obama antagonist! If you’re Sean Hannity, that’s all that matters. As Boehlert noted, if Putin ever gives up his gig as President of Russia, he’s surely got a job at Fox News waiting for him.
Meanwhile, Hannity and guest Pat Buchanan couldn’t stop admiring Putin’s supposed out-maneuvering of President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry. According to Hannity and Buchanan, Putin picked up Kerry’s “forward fumble” (a public suggestion that Syria could avoid a U.S. military strike by putting its chemical weapons under international control) and ran “for the end zone” by publicly calling on Syria to do exactly that. Never mind that this has been under discussion for quite some time and that it’s quite possible Putin’s offer was the result of a U.S. threatened strike against Syria. (See, for example, this Washington Post article about those developments.)
“It’s embarrassing,” Hannity said about Putin’s supposed outmaneuver, though he sounded more complimentary than upset.
“Vladimir Putin is heading straight for the Nobel Peace Prize,” Buchanan gushed.
Later, Hannity said, “Vladimir Putin called Kerry a liar because Kerry was advancing the notion that there are far more moderates than people are saying here. Now, I think he’s talking about the Free Syrian Army. Now that’s the very same military leader that is saying that Israel is an enemy country. That doesn’t seem moderate to me. Who do you believe? I believe Putin.”
Speaking to his Democratic guest, Hannity said, “Putin has filled the leadership gap because Obama and your buddy, Kerry, can’t make up their mind about red lines and regime change.”
“Listen, Putin has saved John Kerry’s bacon,” Buchanan chimed in.
“He did,” Hannity agreed.
Democrat Mark Hannah said, “I’m glad you’re such a Putin fan, Sean. …Move to Russia. …You can broadcast this show from Moscow.”

No, what’s embarrassing is how the talking heads at FOX “news” deliberately choose to deride, ridicule and attempt to weaken their own President and Secretary of State in the eyes of the world while pimping up Putin (and the some of the propaganda put out by the Syrian regime/Assad as seen in other FOX “news” segments).
Had this been the Bush admin in this same situation and Putin had called Condoleeza Rice a “liar”, the talking heads at FOX “news” would have come to her immediate, full-on defense instead of letting the leader of freakin’ Russia call our Sec of State something like that. But, no, they won’t do the same for Kerry (or Obama) as their absolute hatred of Obama trumps everything. It’s reprehensible and, as far as I’m concerned, rather unAmerican. We already knew that Buchanan has a thing for Putin (see below link) and now it looks like Hannity has shown us his true colors too. Perhaps he should change the name of his “Great American” blog to the “Putin Fan Club”.

I have been following the Syrian problem and America’s reaction from “down under” and just cannot believe that the Republicans appear to be siding with the Ruskies against an American President.
I am not saying anything about the Syrian problem I am just talking about the Murdoch and Republican response.
In Australia Murdoch’s “News Corpse” owns almost 70% of the print media.
His newspapers have had a major influence in getting a Vladimir Putin clone elected Prime Minister of Australia….. do a Google search for “Phoney Tony” and see for yourself.
Murdoch is under attack here in Australia and England and the U.S. Justice and State Departments should be investigating his “News Corpse” companies because they are registered in the U.S. and as such they can be liable for breaking laws in other countries.
In England Murdoch has accepted that bribing police, by his company, to get “news scoops”, and he has accepted that his companies hacked into phones and computers.
Murdoch relinquished his Australian citizenship to take U.S. citizenship 40 years ago … please keep him.
