Bill O’Reilly committed Christmas heresy last night during his “War on Christmas” discussion with Sarah Palin. Apparently, he was so overcome with good cheer, he forgot that Fox News’ chief reason for the season is to spread ill will toward those who say, “holiday” instead of “Christmas.” Shockingly, O’Reilly now said he doesn't "have a beef" with anyone who says "Happy holidays" Just as shockingly, Palin - who has a new book out about fighting the War on Christmas - agreed.Read more
Sarah Palin dropped her boycott of The O’Reilly Factor last night for not just one but two segments in which both she and Bill O’Reilly were (uncharacteristically) on their best behavior with each other. In fact, they each must have been so consumed by their new Era of Good Feelings, that the two past masters of hate mongering developed a sudden case of amnesia and repeatedly agreed with the other that they don’t like personal attacks.Read more
When Georgetown University student Sandra Fluke was viciously maligned by GOP boss Rush Limbaugh, for three days straight, those on Fox News didn't seem to care. In fact, they continued the defamation albeit in a much less sexual manner. But when former MSNBC host Martin Bashir articulated a crude response to Sarah Palin's extraordinarily stupid and offensive comparison of the national debt to slavery, those at Fox wanted his head on a platter. And now that he has resigned from MSNBC, Sarah Palin is flush with victory and where better to start the victory lap than on the curvy couch of Fox & Friends. She talked about the hurtfulness of Bashir's attack; but, interestingly, when Fluke was attacked by Rush Limbaugh, Palin was singing an entirely different tune.Read more
Todd Starnes is a good deep fried, racist, homophobic son of the South who loves Jesus. And as a part of the Fox News official war on Christmas brigade, he is always on the alert for any and all offenses to the Baby Jesus. But despite his deep religiosity (ahem), he has a problem with the Commandment that says something about not lying because Toddles, as the movie line goes, just can't handle the truth. His recent scorching expose was all about how a Georgia school, OMG, confiscated Christmas cards, done by students and posted outside classrooms. But it turns out that Starnes story about this latest attack on Christianity was just more Southern fried crap. And thanks to good Christian Starnes and his army of good Christian soldiers, the school had to put up with even more crap.Read more
Schultz brilliantly captures the cognitive dissonance between Bill O'Reilly's defense of the Christian meaning of Christmas and his hatred of poor people on food stamps. He also does a number on Rush Limbaugh, too! Video below the fold.
The radical white, Christian right, who do cling to their bibles and their guns, deeply fear and loathe those who don't conform to their definition of what constitutes a real American. Tops on their enemies list are Muslims who, they believe, are trying to impose their godless Sharia law onto God fearing Americans. As such, a number of states with miniscule Muslim populations are attempting to pass anti-Sharia laws in order to prevent "creeping Sharia." But it's just not the fetid recesses of hate media that stokes these fears. In its effort to further divide Americans, the oh, so patriotic Fox News, is now playing to this paranoia. On Monday's Fox & Friends, Heather Nauert declared, as Fox fact, that Sharia law is here and it's "changing everything!"Read more
What does the Bill say!
It’s bad enough that Bill O’Reilly hypes a phony war on Christmas as an excuse to attack, humiliate and denigrate his political foes. But now he’s hyping a phony feud with Jon Stewart over the subject in order to continue playing the conservative victim. Oh, and whipping up more ill will and antagonism among Americans while he’s at it.Read more
