The movie blockbuster "Lone Survivor," is about a group of Navy Seals, in Afghanistan, who were involved in a firefight that left only one survivor. While it seems innocuous enough, Fox News talkers have their patriotic panties in a bunch about an Atlantic Monthly article and bloggers who are using their First Amendment right to opine that the movie glorifies war. The writers are not defaming the soldiers involved in the mission; but that is how Fox News, the media booster for George W Bush's not so excellent adventure in Iraq, is playing it. It must be a big f**king deal for Roger Ailes because as of today, there have been five segments on it. Why the propaganda blitz? Is Fox trying to increase the box office take? Is it being used as an opportunity to smear those who are anti-war? Or is it because Marcus Luttrell, the "survivor" Seal who co-wrote the movie material, really hates the liberal media? Go figure!
On Your World, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) fear mongered that tax payers will wind up having to bail out health insurers thanks to ObamaCare. But why fact check? Just because Bachmann has a miserable record of promoting falsehoods? Apparently, that’s no reason to doubt a Republican her on “we report, you decide” Fox News.Read more
What happens when a Fox News contributor calls our president and attorney general "vile and disgusting racists?" Why, he gets invited on Fox News prime time to offers his opinions about Rev. Jeremiah Wright's criticisms of President Obama at a Martin Luther King event!Read more
Believe it or not, Fox News is defending President Barack Obama - now that they can use him to attack Rev. Jeremiah Wright and the Chicago Teachers Union. Rev. Wright spoke critically about Obama at a Martin Luther King event held by the union and this is big news on Fox.Read more
I’m sure that by now, most News Hounds readers are aware that a new book reveals Hillary Clinton’s aides kept a so-called “enemies list.” However, if you want to know exactly how dead-on-arrival this “scandal” should have been, you only have to look to Karl Rove, who offered up his $0.02 on the matter to say that lists of this nature are an institutionalized political practice - right before he tried to explain why Hillary’s list should be an outrage, anyway.Read more
As the media mouthpiece for the anti-choice movement and the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, Fox News has been unwavering in its support for opposition to the HHS birth control mandate which has exempted churches and provided a mechanism by which religious non-profits and educational institutions can invoke their exemption to allow their insurance carriers to cover the cost of birth control. In promoting the bishop's position, Fox News has promoted their claim that the mandate covers abortion inducing drugs including emergency contraception which is only considered an "abortifacient" by the Catholic Church and not the medical community. (It prevents ovulation) On January 4th, Fox host and GOP hack Jeanine Pirro kept the lie going - by my count from only the programs that I reviewed - for the *11th time.Read more
The Daily Show’s Samantha Bee offered up an amazing and oddball comically dramatic interpretation of Fox News’ The Five. It pretty much defies explanation but it involves what she called “a story as old as time, a story of love” between co-hosts Greg Gutfeld and Dana Perino.Read more
Given their concern for excessive government spending, at taxpayer expense, you would think that the right wing would applaud the administration's decision to save taxpayer money by moving US Vatican embassy staff from a separate building to a compound shared by the US Italian embassy in Rome. But oh, no, certain right wing, anti-Obama Catholic zealots have their rosary beads in a bunch over what they consider to be part of the President's war on Catholics - a meme constantly aided and abetted by Fox News in their support for the Catholic bishops' opposition to the HHS birth control mandate. In late 2012, Fox did two pieces in which a former Vatican ambassador and big GOP honcho Jim Nicholson whined about the move. And this morning - drum roll please - he appeared on Fox & Friends, Fox's premier show for aggrieved Christians, for more whining!Read more
