Bill O'Reilly To Speak At "Bible Thumping" University?
Bill O'Reilly's spiritual journey seems to have taken an interesting evolution (pun intended). In the space of a few years, he has gone from being a self-proclaimed creationist who claimed that Jesus guided evolution and that the tides are not based on gravitational pull to the more modern position of the bible as "allegory" - a position about which he lectured a fundamentalist pastor. He compared those who disagree with his view to jihadists. And last night, in kinda, sorta defending proponents of gay marriage, he said that "other side hasn't been able to do anything but thump the bible." So there is rich irony in the fact that O'Reilly will be speaking, in September, at Faulkner University, a university founded as a bible school and which has a "biblically based core curriculum." Go figure!

Megyn Kelly didn’t just slobber over African American Dr. Ben Carson’s admonitions about playing the victim card yesterday, she actually read one of his favorite poems called, “Yourself to Blame” to drive the point home. And then, after he left, she brought up one of her own favorite sayings: “winners take responsibility, losers blame others.” She didn't single out any particular group but there was no doubt from the rest of the discussion that she was directing her lecture to African Americans – even though it was almost certain none were watching.

Last weekend, Forbes on Fox focused on the record number of workers who don’t have enough money to retire. According to host David Asman, this proves “why we need to ditch Social Security” for younger people.
Read moreFox Ignores Its Own Reporting To Promote Bullet Conspiracy Theory
Fox News is so eager to promote anti-Obama/pro-gun conspiracy theories that it overlooked its own reporting in the process yesterday. Think Progress caught Megyn Kelly yesterday just "asking" her Republican guest, "Is the government buying up bullets to use against us?" Even though Fox itself had already debunked that likelihood. (H/T Eric J.)
Read moreMike Huckabee & Abby Johnson Attack Planned Parenthood - Again!
That the allegedly "fair & balanced" Fox News network is a conduit for the lies and propaganda of the extremist anti-abortion "American Taliban" is underscored by the presence of Mike Huckabee whose program features anti-abortion extremists such as Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood worker who was "converted" to the anti-abortion movement. Saturday, Ms. Johnson, whose newest pet project is to encourage Planned Parenthood workers to leave their jobs, returned to the Huckabee show which devoted two segments to more anti-choice agitprop and Planned Parenthood bashing. It also featured another former clinic worker's baseless claims about alleged criminal actions at her former place of employment. If there's any question as to whether the war on women is real, Mike Huckabee's show answers it strongly in the affirmative.

Greg Gutfeld must have been jealous of all the attention Bob Beckel got when he told CBS to take its Amazing Race show "and shove it" a few days ago. Either that or there's something in the water (or the Fox brass' instructions) at The Five that has them looking for reasons to become unhinged. Yesterday's excuse was Jim Carrey's Funny or Die video spoofing Charlton Heston and the NRA. Whatever the reason, Gutfeld accused Carrey of killing more people than "all the rifles combined." Really. And, of course, the whole thing got re-played over and over on Fox.

Another day, another racial whine from Fox’s master baiter of race, Sean Hannity. Tonight’s excuse, Touré’s comments about Dr. Benjamin Carson being conservatives’ guilt-assuaging “black friend.” Rather than address the substance of Toure’s remarks – that GOP policies matter more to African Americans than the color of their pals – Hannity trotted out two of his favorite African-American black attackers to throw racial flames at Touré, MSNBC and the left.
Read moreKarl Rove Tries to Cool Carsonmania, Says There May be Fewer Debates in 2016
Dr. Ben Carson may have been mainly a Fox phenomenon immediately after he lectured President Obama at a National Prayer Breakfast last month, but it looks like he’s going mainstream. The conservative speaker and retiring neurosurgeon has been interviewed by CNN, and written up by such bastions of liberalism as the Washington Post. The doctor has been hyped as a candidate for President (or, more recently, a candidate for the vacant Michigan Senate seat) since the day after the prayer breakfast. But he is not on Karl Rove's list of "Conservative Rising Stars," as he told Greta Van Susteren on Friday night.
Read moreBob Beckel And Fox Throw Stones At CBS’ Amazing Race From Their Glass House
In case you missed it, The Five's Bob Beckel went on a tirade last week against CBS for an Amazing Race segment in which contestants were ordered to memorize “communist” Vietnamese songs and visit the site of a downed B-52 bomber. I’ll agree that the segment was not the most sensitive but Beckel’s explosive outburst – in which he told CBS to “take that show and shove it!” – seems rather hypocritical given his perch at Birther Central, aka Fox News, where hate mongering against Americans and our president is their stock in trade.
Read moreBill O'Reilly Attacks "Pinhead" Denver Post Editor Gregory Moore
The insidious nature of Fox News mullah Bill O'Reilly's personal attacks is made even more so by his ability to frame his fatwa's in humorous and avuncular tones. While he's perfectly capable of angrily denouncing his "enemies," he's also able to get the same affect by gently making baseless accusation against them and mocking them as "pinheads." And in true O'Reilly style, he gets the last (and in many cases, the only) word because his victims don't get a chance to respond. But if his targets push back, Bill gets upset. Recently, a Denver Post journalist accused O'Reilly of gay baiting the CO House Speaker because of the Speaker's opposition to O'Reilly's pet legislation, Jessica's Law. The writer appeared on The Factor and despite O'Reilly's delusional claims of having bested the man, his presentation was calm and articulate. But because Bill always needs to have the last word, he's now turning his wrath on the editor of the Denver Post who is being called a "Pinhead" for supposedly turning his paper into an arm of the Democratic Party. (And this is being said on Fox News, Oh, the irony!)
