Megyn Kelly Validates Right Wing 'Concerns' About 'Common Core Curriculum'
As the mouthpiece for the right wing, "fair & balanced" Fox News never wastes an opportunity to bash the public school system and teacher's unions as well as promote school vouchers. Usually, the point person for smearing public education is Kyle Olson who is head of a right wing group committed to privatizing public education. But today, alleged "news" host Megyn Kelly brought in a fresh, new face. She spoke to former mainstream media reporter, Bob Bowdon who is now head of Choice Media, "an education reform news service" and the director of a movie that slammed New Jersey public education. In a totally "fair & balanced" piece (not) she allowed Bowdon to present a one-sided analysis of the "Common Core" curriculum which just happens to be the newest, hottest anti-government conspiracy theory for the right wing, especially Glenn Beck and Michelle Malkin. And while Bowdon didn't go quite that far, the agenda was still out there and Kelly did her due diligence in validating it.

In case you weren’t dumbfounded enough when the Hannity show trotted out Donald Rumsfeld to lecture President Obama about truthfulness in national security, you might want to hold on to your jaw before watching any clips from last night’s hour-long infomercial for Rumsfeld's book that transformed the guy who resigned in disgrace over his handling of the war in Iraq in 2006 into a hero in the war on terror on Fox News in 2013. In fact, Sean Hannity was so busy lionizing Rumsfeld that he didn’t even discuss Iraq. When it did come up, via a guest, Rumsfeld was hailed for his behavior in the Abu Ghraib prisoner-abuse scandal and held up as a role model for President Obama in Benghazi. Seriously.
Read moreRivera To Bolling: You’re Making The President Look Like A Murderer With Your False Benghazi Narrative
Geraldo Rivera and Eric Bolling had yet another confrontation over Benghazi this morning on Rivera’s radio show. Rivera accused Bolling of making irresponsible accusations that President Obama acted treasonously. Instead of defending his allegation that Obama deliberately ordered troops to “stand down” from assisting in Benghazi during the attack there, Bolling hung up.

On Saturday’s Cashin’ In (5/25/13), host Eric Bolling attacked Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) for having criticized “global warming deniers” shortly after the Oklahoma tornadoes. Whitehouse later apologized but Bolling said, “Apology not accepted.” In fact, the entire segment was little more than a thinly disguised excuse for demonizing Democrats and anyone else concerned with climate change. But regular Jonathan Hoenig took it to a new, ridiculous level when he declared that laws to protect the environment are “anti man” and “The more carbon we burn, the better humans lives have become.”

President Obama made a traditional Memorial Day address at Arlington National Cemetary today. But if you're a devoted Fox fan, you may not know that. The information is buried on FoxNews.com. Even worse, Fox Nation highlighted George W. Bush's Memorial Day activities but I couldn't find a word about President Obama's.
Read moreFr. Jonathan Morris Uses Creationism Discussion To Pimp School Vouchers Over 'Flawed' Public School System'
Despite the religious diversity of "America's Newsroom," Fox News panders, almost exclusively, to one religious group. In addition to providing extensive coverage in support of the Catholic bishops opposition to the HHS birth control mandate and its providing a Catholic priest a weekly gig to promote right wing talking points, it would appear that Fox is appealing to a constituency whose white members (for Fox, the only hue that counts) are trending GOP. The sweet faced Fox priest, Fr. Jonathan Morris is a perfect Fox propaganda vehicle as he is able to cleverly morph Catholic dogma with right wing talking points that are delivered in a seemingly benign conversational way. He also occasionally validates fundamentalist Christianity. Fox gets payback in the form of Morris' loyal Facebook fans who always tune in to see their Vatican idol. Yesterday, Morris used a discussion about the teaching of creationism to, again, endorse school vouchers which are supported by Catholic bishops and evangelicals. He also dissed public schools. Something for everybody. Pretty slick...

Read moreBob Dole: Republicans Should Put Up A Sign 'Closed For Repairs'
In honor of Memorial Day, Fox News Sunday conducted an interview with "America's veteran," former Senator and former presidential candidate Bob Dole. Interestingly, host Chris Wallace led Dole right into his criticisms of today's Republican party. And at the beginning of the segment, surely recorded after Wallace knew what Dole had said, Wallace said Dole is "as perceptive" as ever.
Read moreJuan Williams Points Out That Republicans Were Pushing For Leak Probes Before They Were Complaining about Leak Probes
Juan Williams got under Brit Hume’s skin on Fox News Sunday today when he suggested there’s a tad of disingenuousness about Republican hissy fits over Attorney Genera Eric Holder’s investigation into national security leaks that included investigating Fox News reporter James Rosen. Not that Williams didn’t jump on the same pro-Rosen bandwagon most others in the media have jumped on (and ignored what Rosen did to flag investigators’ attention) but still, he’s one of the few on Fox to point out that Holder didn't just concoct some war against the press – but was engaging in the very behavior Republicans were accusing him of not doing before they were against him for doing it.
