On Fox & Friends: Alveda King Uses MLK Birthday to Smear Pres. Obama With Anti-Choice Lies
While there are still a number of African-American leaders who were close to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement, Fox News chooses to honor Dr. King's message by trotting out his right wing niece, Alveda King, every year, on Dr. King's birthday. Some, in the black community, criticize her politics. When she openly embraced the race baiting politics of Glenn Beck, African-American author Earl Ofari Hutchinson wrote that she "is turning MLK's dream into a nightmare." But her right wing zealotry and her connection to MLK make her a hot commodity on Fox where she is utilized to promote right wing talking points and bash the President - all in the guise of promoting her famous uncle's message. Yesterday, rather than talking about how MLK provided a framework for today's talk about income inequality, Alveda King, once again, used her annual appearance to promote the pro-life propaganda and lies which are also quite popular on Fox "News."

Who knew that part of Megyn Kelly's job as a "non-opinion" Fox News host included playing defense attorney for Chris Christie? Funny how she forgot to mention that when she talked about her prime time role at Fox.

Extremist Pastor Robert Jeffress announced to O’Reilly Factor viewers tonight that President Obama is somehow paving the way for the antichrist via ObamaCare, same sex marriage and the contraception mandate. Not surprisingly, “no spin” Bill O’Reilly offered no challenge to Jeffress’ outrageous claims.

Fox News contributor Sarah Palin joined the using-MLK Day-to-race-bait-President-Obama club today. On Facebook, she posted a message saying, “Mr. President, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. and all who commit to ending any racial divide, no more playing the race card.” Touching, eh?

Today is Martin Luther King Day but you'd probably not know that by reading Fox Nation. Not only is there no commemoration of King nor his work but the top story right now is a race baiting headline, with certain words in red, for extra emphasis: Obama: Some Folks Don't Like Me Because I'm Black. It turns out Fox cherry picked that quote out of a lengthy article that was a much broader picture of Obama. (H/T Andrew S.)
Mike Huckabee: Making Babies Is Women's Empowerment?!
When it comes to anti-choice extremism, Fox's Mike Huckabee is king of them all, y'all. He opposes abortion except when a woman's life is at risk. He has compared abortion to the Holocaust and in doing was criticized by the ADL. He has called for a federal ban on abortion. He supports "personhood" for the fetus which, if enacted into law, would also ban certain types of birth control. In the war on women's reproductive rights, he's in the Praetorian Guard. On his Saturday night show, he used the occasion of the annual "March for Life," taking place this week in Washington DC and other cities, to preach his anti-choice message which shows us, once again, that Fox News is the media mouthpiece for a patriarchal system that seeks to drive us back to the days of the back alley which, despite Huckabee's assertion to the contrary, isn't empowering women at all!
Read moreFox Guest Suggests Raising Minimum Wage An Obama Plan To Sabotage The Poor
Yesterday’s Forbes On fear mongered about the possibility that Obamacare cancellations may hurt small business workers. Several of the (as usual) imbalanced panel argued that President Obama was deliberately punishing small business with the program because they are Republicans. However, guest John Tamny took the bashing to a whole new level. He made the ludicrous suggestion that Obama’s efforts to reduce income inequality are a sign that he HATES poor people.

In case you missed it, there are major new developments in the Chris Christie “Bridgegate” scandal. The mayor of Hoboken, NJ has come forward to accuse the governor of threatening to withhold Hurricane Sandy relief funds unless she supported the Rockefeller Project, a development project he favored. But you’d never know that from watching Fox News Sunday today. That show was too busy questioning the Obama administration to find any time to discuss Christie.
